Default The Fly Remake In The Works

Didn't see this anywhere on here via search...

Quote:
A new take on The Fly is in development at 20th Century Fox. Deadline reports that J.D. Dillard, who makes his feature film directorial debut with next month’s Sleight, is in talks to direct The Fly remake for the studio. Dillard would also provide the screenplay with his writing partner, Alex Theurer.

Cronenberg's version is enough for me, Goldblum was superb.

A remake of a remake. Go figure.

Yeah the Cronenberg version is too complete to really even come close to topping. A remake would either just add more excess or become distilled by studio conventions.

No thanks. Cronenberg's mastery of body horror and use of practical effects is going to be replaced in this one by CGI. CGI has it's place in the world, but this isn't one of them. Get the **** out!

The sequel to the remake was enough.

I enjoyed The Fly II, and wouldn't mind seeing a continuation. But a remake? Nah, I'll probably pass.

The Cronenberg version is the rare remake that bests the original in every way. It's such a personalized and singular vision, building on a theme in much of Cronenberg's work at the horror of the mind and intellect staying sharp even as your body betrays you with some form of deterioration.

And there's simply no way anyone could improve on the performances of Geena Davis or Jeff Goldblum.

I enjoy both the '58 and '86 versions and, to a lesser extent, their sequels. Another remake? Sure, why not. I just hope they'd do something different with it, and not worry too much about "topping" or rehashing Cronenberg's version.

Cronenberg's version is still creepy, I'll pass on a remake.

Studios should just start combining remakes. The Fly Vs Scarface In The Matrix.

Does that stand for "Computer Generated Insect"?

I have no problem with remakes, sequels, sidequels or whatever just as long as the storytelling is competent and entertaining.

But I do concur: break Rob Bottin out of retirement to do the FX... THAT will get my attention and put my butt in the seat.

Why not? Scarface already buries cock-a-roaches.

Would be interesting to see a female working on something that she thought would make getting around easier but she accidentally gets her dna scrambled with a fly and becomes a sex crazed nympho in the process and ends up having thousands of larvae babies and when they hatch they look humanoid in appearance.
