Exclamation Xbox Series X not playing Netflix UHD content in UHD.

Hey guys,

Not sure if this is the correct sub-forum to post this in -- but I've run into an unusual issue over the last several days that I can't seem to rectify.

In the two years I've owned my Xbox Series X, for whatever reason, it's stopped playing UHD titles on Netflix in UHD. It'll still play HDR content in HDR -- Dolby Vision even -- but will only play these titles in 1080p.

When I played 4K/SDR content, like Better Call Saul or Breaking Bad, it is only streaming it in 1080p.

When I stream Netflix internally through my TV, it will play these titles correctly.

That's usually my preferred method of streaming Netflix content anyway. But I still enjoy using my Series X when it's convenient. As well as getting resolution and bitrate information when needed.

I've already tried restarting the Xbox. Deleting the Netflix app and then reinstalling it. Checking for an app update. Etc, etc

So I have no idea what's going on with it.

Buy an Apple TV 4K. Consoles use a criminal amount of power streaming, compared to any dedicated streamer on the market.

What does it say on the General 4K TV details tab with the Xbox?

I would check your cable first and then I would see if you could run like test to make sure that machine is working properly. I would take that cable that you have connected to the Xbox then connect it to your TV and If you have a regular 4K Blu ray see if the titles are playing properly if they are then there might be something wrong with the Xbox.

If your Xbox is outputting at 120Hz, then the cable may not have enough bandwidth to transmit a 4K/120 signal, so it switches to 1080p. Try setting it to 60Hz and see if you get 4K. Or if you have a 48Gbps cable, try using that.
