Default Blu's with awesome extras?

I'm currently watching Prometheus 4-disc collector's edition's extras, and man is there a ton of content..I'm starting to dig extra's a lot, and just wondering what titles supply nice lengthy extra's

All three Transformers movies. Especially ROTF and DOTM. The feature-length documentaries are a lot more interesting than the movies.

Best special features I have seen in my collection:

Prometheus 4 disc (as you have said already)
Alien Anthology (holy hell, takes a day)
Star Wars complete saga set (tons of stuff plus great commentaries)
Lotr extended set
Fight club (*commentary is my favorite possibly)
Full tilt boogie (an amazing full length film on the making of From dusk till dawn. A must for anyone into the film process IMO)
Game of thrones sets
The amazing Spider-Man 4 disc
Hatchet (cool making of doc)
Boogie nights

Most criterions are pretty great for special features

I really enjoy any features on Scorsese and Tarantino films. They may be light but it is fantastic to see them work.

This is all just off the top of my head, I need to watch more features to be honest. I have been trying to get through commentaries more, they can be so amazing or really bad lol.

That's the issue with commentaries. If the director/producer/writer wanted to record it and enjoyed making the film then it's usually a treat to listen to. Otherwise, it's about like listening to Ben Stein recite a monologue.

^^ for sure. Some directors just repeat what you are watching with words. "He is running now, and the other guy is going to chase him"

Rob Zombie's Halloween has a 4-hour documentary covering the entire movie making process in real time. It is one of the best documentaries I've seen for anyone interested in how films are made.

He also produces a similar doc on The Devil's Rejects, but you can only get it on the special edition dvd.

A Clockwork Orange 40th anniversary
Do The Right Thing

As mentioned, many Criterions. My favorites:

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - I think the reviewer here mentioned that the extras were better than the movie
Videodrome
Dazed and Confused
Slacker

If you are lucky enough to be region free I highly recommend most the label Arrow's releases. They come packed with special features. But more importantly, it's the QUALITY of these special features that make some of discs worth while.

Lifeforce from Arrow comes packed with many features including the Arrow exclusive 'Cannon Fodder' documentary that everyone was raving about at the Fright Fest.

Big Trouble In Little China comes loaded with old and new special features including some great interviews with John Carpenter and Kurt Russell. Neither pull any punches and it's refreshing actually watching blu's where not every single cast member gushes over one another. With that said, i'd recommend The Usual Supsects blu for very much the reason.

I love old movies and some of them have tons of interesting extras often including documentaries about actors/directors.

Some of the most extreme are the Ultimate Editions.

A good example is Gone With the Wind with the following extras:
- A very informative 4 hour long audio commentary
- A 2 hour making of
- 65 minute documentary on Clark Gable
- 46 minute documentary on Vivien Leigh
- almost 2 hours of other featurettes
- a 68 minute documentary on Hollywood in 1939
- a 97 minute TV movie
- a SIX hour long documentary on MGM
- Trailers
- Soundtrack CD

Peter Jackson's The Frighteners has a 'Making Of' extra that's longer then the film. Very excellent 'making of' too.

A few days ago I received my copy of 12 Monkeys and I watched for the first time the documentary called The Hamster Factor and Other Tales of 12 Monkeys that it contains. It's extremely interesting seeing all the sh*t Terry Gilliam had to suffer during the production of the movie, from the production to the test screenings, all this resulting on a great Sci-Fi flick.
One of the best extras that I've seen in a Blu or DVD.

Question regarding Marvel Blu Ray extras. Is it me or do none of these BD's feature a great in-depth documentary about the history of Marvel comics or its creators like Jack Kirby? The DC films do a really nice job in this area. The Batman and Superman Anthologies, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Watchmen, BvS, even the Green Lantern BD has well made features regarding the characters comic origins. I remember the 2 disc X2 BD had a decent doc on the X-Men comics. But I'm shocked the proper Marvel Studios BD's aren't over flowing with info about the history of their company. Am I missing something?

Wall-E is one of my favorite releases because it includes The Pixar Story as an extra, which is a nice documentary (even if it stops just as they get to Cars).

The Ichabod and Mr. Toad/FFF combo is nice too, I'm glad that was recommended to me since The Reluctant Dragon is a neat if somewhat cheesy extra about the early Disney studios.

It's not a blu-ray but I also recommend Walt and El Grupo since one of its extras is the uncensored Saludos Amigos. Darn smoking...
