Default Smashing Pumpkins on Blu-ray 9/3/13!!!

The Smashing Pumpkins: Oceania - Live In NYC Blu-ray

(taken from smashingpumpkins.com)

Last year for Halloween, THE SMASHING PUMPKINS were set to perform in New York at Brooklyn’s new Barclays Center, but due to the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the show had to be rescheduled (Monday, December 10). The band’s powerful performance was captured for an audio-visual experience titled OCEANIA: LIVE IN NYC and due out September 3 via Universal Music Enterprises.

The package will be available in four formats: a standard Amaray DVD, a 3D Blu-ray DVD, a Deluxe 2CD+DVD set and digital long form. The DVD and Blu-ray components both feature the full show, along with interviews with Sean Evans, the lighting director and stage producer, plus a photo gallery, both with 5.1 and stereo audio.

1. Standard Amaray DVD – OCEANIA: LIVE IN NYC – full show and bonus interviews: http://smarturl.it/OceaniaNYCDVD
2. Standard 3D Blu-ray – OCEANIA: 3D IN NYC – 3D & 2D on one disc, with 24- bit/96kHz audiophile audio: http://smarturl.it/OceaniaNYCBluRay
3. Deluxe 2CD+DVD – OCEANIA: LIVE IN NYC – DVD plus 2xCDs of all tracks in the show: http://smarturl.it/OceaniaNYC_CDDVD
4. Digital Long Form – OCEANIA: LIVE IN NYC – Full content available for digital download

At Barclays Center, the PUMPKINS–singer/guitarist BILLY CORGAN, guitarist JEFF SCHROEDER, drummer MIKE BYRNE and bassist NICOLE FIORENTINO–performed their acclaimed OCEANIA CD in full, followed by classics and deep cuts from their body of work for the second half of the show (the set list is below). The PUMPKINS were backed by visuals prepared by Evans, whose most recent project was assisting Roger Waters on the newest staging of “The Wall.” The OCEANIA: LIVE IN NYC package, with a running time of 57:58, is directed by Milton Lage.

I wish they would release Vieuphoria on Blu-ray. Those were the days.

The first track on Vieuphoria, "Quiet", was filmed in Atlanta, GA, and I was at the show. I was in college at the time, and a friend and I were at the seats right above the pit area.

I prefer those old days, when everybody was still in The Smashing Pumpkins, but I heard great things about the Oceania shows.

I agree. I have Vieuphoria, the music video collection, and If All Goes Wrong on DVD and would love to see all of those on blu-ray. Especially If All Goes Wrong since it was filmed in HD to begin with. I have heard really good things about the Oceania tour as well. Haven't been able to go. Love the album though.

I wasn't there, but I'm still waiting on the 'last' Metro show to get a release. Maybe it's coming as part of the remastered series, who knows.
I'll be getting this blu ray for sure though.

I thought Oceania was a step up in Billy's songwriting from Teargarden which was among the worst material he's done.
But, damn I still miss Jimmy's drumming and hope he someday returns.

I would love to see the original line up (from the Siamese Dream/Melon Collie days), although I doubt that James Iha or D'arcy Wretzky would be caught dead on stage with Corgan ever again.

So glad this was finally announced, been looking forward to it. I enjoy every era of the band and don't get hung up on the old members not being in it. I loved Oceania, can't wait for this and whatever they have next.

I think the last Metro show is supposed to get a release around the time the Machina box set comes out

Definitely. Would *LOVE* anything from 1992-1994. Which is really the time when they were actually my favorite band as a kid (sadly I was too young to see them in concert until 2000). It's a shame they might have only shot on video during that era, rather than film which could be suitable for blu-ray. However even if shot only on video, I'd 100x rather have a full concert DVD of that Atlanta show if one were to exist than a blu-ray of the current band (hell, I'd rather have a VHS of that concert with the sound quality from Viewphoria... which I still have on VHS).

I would assume at least their "last show" from back in 2000 would be on proper film. Would definitely go for that over their more recent shows. Not too interested in 2013 Pumpkins, but definitely interested in their old releases (picked up Gish and Siamese remaster). I was a big enough fan of them that I was actually disappointed in the choice of the concert DVD with Siamese Dream, that one was already pretty public and was all over the net for many years.

Sounds like it. 131 minutes should be the whole concert = Oceania followed by older songs

Still am waiting to see the back cover for confirmation...

Mine will actually be here today too! If you want to submit a back cover, that is fine. I can if you don't get to it.
