Default Live Action 'Rats of NIMH' Movie

MGM Options Mrs. Frisby & The Rats Of Nimh, Sets Ice Age’s Michael Berg To Hatch Family Franchise

Quote:
EXCLUSIVE: MGM has acquired the award winning Robert C. O’Brien children’s book Mrs. Frisby & The Rates Of Nimh, and has set Ice Age 5 scribe Michael Berg to write the script. Daniel Bobker and Ehren Kruger will produce through their Bobker/Kruger label. The film will be done as a live-action/CGI hybrid, and Berg is focusing on an origin story in which an imperiled mouse protagonist befriends a comical crew of lab rats as they turn hyper-intelligent. They escape a secret laboratory and become the great minds of vermin civilization, forced to outwit the humans hot on their tails. The hope is to create a franchise.

When it comes to movies about rats, nothing will ever top 'Willard' !

This could be interesting. I loved the animated film.

Perhaps now we can get a proper BD of the animated version.

The Secret of NIMH is one of my childhood faves. I've always liked the more darker kid-movies. So far, I don't know what to think about a live action version of this.

From what I've read it's a live action/CG hybrid akin to Alvin and the Chipmunks and The Smurfs from the writer of three Ice Age movies. It's going to be the origin of Brisby and the "comical crew of lab rats" he befriends. Doesn't sound promising at all, compared to the dark original, but I guess judgement should be reserved...

I'm all for these types of movies but this basically sounds like a comedy movie like Alvin but with Rats. I'd rather get a movie closer to the animated film.

Good luck with that....Bluth's American Tail was a huge hit back in the day, yet they couldn't even get the original audio track on the BD.

IIRC, there are some differences compared to the VHS/DVD editions, but it might actually be the original theatrical audio.

I just hope that they don't screw up The Great Owl.

Because... Well, you know...

He's probably going to have a rap solo like the cockatoo in Rio 2.

So a ninja turtle movie about Splinter...

Would rather they just bring the secret of nimh to BD

The Last Unicorn, now that I think about it, would probably benefit more with a CGI/live action remake than this
