Default The Wizards of Once (Dreamworks Animation)

* Cressida Cowel

DreamWorks Animation has acquired the fantasy novel series The Wizards of Once from Cressida Cowell, the best-selling author behind the How to Train Your Dragon series.

"Cressida is part of the DreamWorks family and with The Wizards of Once she once again anchors a new franchise for us," DreamWorks Feature Animation Group president Chris DeFaria said Thursday in a statement announcing the news.

The upcoming series is set in a world of magic where wizards and warriors collide. The first installment will be released this fall through Little, Brown Books for Young Readers in the U.S. and Hodder Children’s Books in the U.K.

How to Train Your Dragon 3 is currently in production and is set to hit theaters March 1, 2019.

So, basically, this is the follow-up for the How to Train Your Dragon franchise, which is coming to an end.

So Dreamworks announces this as a greenlit project at the same time they announce the cancellation of Larrikin? I feel sorry for Tim Minchin. Four years of work gone.

I really like the look of the artwork and it had quite an impressive group of actors involved. Truly a shame.
