Attack the Block Blu-ray

Attack the Block Blu-ray Review

Screen Gems (Sony Pictures) releases this alien comedy on October.

Little to know if it'll be a Combo Pack (BD+DVD+DC). Stay tuned for cover art and special features.

Looking forward to this. I was going to import the UK release which I think is due out in September, but I may just hold off for the US release.

Just want to bump this - I'll be renting this on iTunes in the next few days and reporting back. It's supposed to be awesome - a kind of South London homage to John Carpenter. Can't wait to see it and own it on blu

Saw this twice in the theater this past week, one of my favorite films of the year easily. I can't recommend it enough. Blu will be day 1 for sure. The soundtrack crafted by Basement Jaxx for the film is top notch as well.

Glad I saw it theatrically and did not wait for a blind buy viewing. Didn't care for it and am a bit puzzled at the love for it. . .

Are you a fan of late 70s/early 80s Walter Hill and John Carpenter?

I personally was a big fan of Attack the Block. It will probably rank as my second or third favorite movie of the year (after Driver and Midnight in Paris). It felt a lot more like an actual Hill/Carpenter film than some of the other genre films that have tried to mimic that style (Doomsday or Planet Terror). I've heard some mixed reactions to it before, but this will definitely be a day one purchase for me.

With all the hype behind this, I hope I don't end up disappointed like I was with Trick or Treat.

i got the UK disc and saw it in the cinemas and loved it then and now!
such a great movie!! the kids in the flick were all first timers off London streets and it seemed like such a fun movie to make from the behind the scenes on the disc.
it looks great on blu too.

Sorry but it's Trick R Treat. Trick or Treat was this abomination
[Show spoiler]
j/k

I haven't seen ATB yet but to compare it to Trick R Treat is ridiculous they are two completely different types of movies. I'm not expecting to be disappointed by this one due to the fact that I like British films of this type. From the trailer it seems kind of comparable to Shaun of the Dead. I;m not saying this because Nick Frost is in both either it just seems like the same type of comedy. If you liked Shaun of the Dead I think you will not be disappointed by this one.

I obviously wasn't comparing the two movies, I was comparing the amount of hype behind them within the horror community.

Still maybe you didn't like trick r treat because it was a horror anthology of sorts. Do you like horror anthologies? If not then that would explain why you didn't like trick r treat. Now do you like horror comedy? If yes then there is a far greater chance that you will enjoy this more. I don't know your personal taste but you do. Just because a movie gets held in high regard by one person it dosn't mean the next person will enjoy it as much. This is what I meant when I said it was ridiculous to compare the two movies.

Saw this finally this week and absolutely loved it. Am so glad you Americans/Canadians are getting behind it, especially as most of the move is spoken with more than a sprinkling of London/youth slang.

It's a great film and much more reminiscent of John Carpenter movies than Shaun of the Dead (two comparisons made above) - the humour isn't similar to SotD really either and I don't think people should be led to believe that.

And btw, yes, apart from the Aliens, Brixton really is like that!

Shall now be ordering on blu.

Bare aliens bruv!

Watched this tonight and then ran to amazon to pre-order. Ridiculously funny. Ranks up there with "Tamara Drewe" as my favorite British film of the year. Hilarious, wonderful acting, so much more realistic then Super 8.

Bassment Jaxx pwnd the soundtrack, it was brilliant.

I think the marketing for this movie in the U.S. was misleading.

First of all, this film is not a comedy. It's very funny, yes, but it is certainly not a comedy. Like AlexSing and chetripley80 before me said, this film has a mood and a feel more akin to John Carpenter or Walter Hill. It's fun, exciting at times and it has a lot of humor, but it's not a comedy.

Also, I loved it that the members of the gang of teenagers were played by actual teenagers, unlike in American films.
