It looks like this release will port the US DVD extras:

Finally, I was actually looking to buy the dvd just last week, as I never thought that it would be released on blu, but the dvd is quite pricey. Plus the ending makes me blubber like a fool.

Never expected to get this on BD, amazing to see it's been restored from original 16mm elements!!!

I've always wondered if it was shot at 25fps, since it was a TV movie, and the theatrical release came later. It's always been presented in 4:3 because Minghella composed for TV, so I would suspect it's natively 25fps and slowed down for both the BD and the old US MGM DVD that I also have.

Still, amazing to get this!!!

My disc arrived today, at LAST (Amazon UK shipping is getting really slow and unreliable with this new Asendia outfit they're using).

The BD is region-free, but be warned, there is a PAL logo at the beginning. Just wait ten seconds or so and it ends, and you'll get to the main menu.

The film looks gorgeous, miles better than the old DVD, as is to be expected.

The extras exactly duplicate the OOP and SUPER-rare MGM US DVD:

- Audio commentary by Minghella
- 15 second video introduction by Minghella (vintage SD source used, but presented in HD here, so no PAL issues)
- 30 min interview with Minghella (vintage SD source used, but presented in HD here, so no PAL issues)
- US theatrical trailer (it was a TV film in the UK, so there's presumably no UK trailer) (HD)

Might have to pick this up.

In a bit of serendipity, I borrowed both this and Brief Encounter from my local library on the same day. Hadn't seen either before. Watched Brief Encounter first, then Truly Madly Deeply and was quite shocked by the coincidence.

A few small business sellers on eBay currently have 'Truly Madly Deeply' sealed copies for under £5.
I ordered this one for £4.49 at the end of last week and it arrived yesterday.
