USA The Life of Chuck 4K UHD (2024)

NEON (via Decal Releasing) will be releasing The Life of Chuck, written and directed by Mike Flanagan (from a Stephen King short story), on 4K on September 30th. This was a great film, and one of my favorites of the year so far. The 4K release will include a commentary track with Flanagan, a Making-of featurette, and interviews with the cast.

Quote:
Extras
  • Audio commentary by director Mike Flanagan
  • The Making of The Life of Chuck - Featurette
  • Exclusive on-set interviews with Tom Hiddleston, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Mark Hamill
  • Original trailers
  • Teasers
  • TV Spots
  • Optional English SDH and Spanish subtitles for the main feature
Quote:
This unforgettable, genre-bending tale celebrates the life of Charles 'Chuck' Krantz as he experiences the wonder of love, the heartbreak of loss, and the multitudes contained in all of us.

This movie made me cry like a baby in the theater. I hope it finds its audience on streaming/physical media.

A truly underrated and underseen film… My wife and I saw it in an empty theater (great experience for us, but disappointing for the film) the second Friday night of its wide release. It blew us both away… it was the type of movie going experience that I always crave: a film that elevates you, challenges you, and touches you on both an emotional and philosophical level. We couldn’t stop talking about it for days afterwards, and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since… It’s a truly special film.

I’ve recommended it to anyone that would listen, and to say it was my favorite film of the year is an understatement… And I’ve preached going into this movie blind, like I did. Although, even after watching the trailers afterwards, it still doesn’t spoil the surprise, depth, and joy of watching this film.

And did I mention that Mark Hamill gives his all-time best performance this film?!
Plus the whole ensemble cast is terrific, from the stars down to the supporting roles… I say give this film a chance, and even if you don’t love it, you’re guaranteed to have a very singular movie going experience!

So… am I going to preorder this 4k Blu-ray the moment it goes live?… You probably know the answer to that question!

This truly was a great film. Emotional, weighty, and just makes you wish more modern films were like it. I’ll definitely be picking this up on 4K.

I wish I had a chance to see this in the theaters. Mike Flanagan plays me like a fiddle. Alas, I was too busy. But I can't wait for this release.

Stinky-british aren't even getting a theatrical release until late August, sad to say.

Gonna pick this up. Among the best Stephen King adaptations ever. Essentially unabridged, but with just enough added clarity to make it better.

Phenomenal film but, dear God, the worst marketed one I’ve seen in ages. Even though it’s inspired by arguably the most stirring part of the entire film, without context, and with the goofy spectral background, that cover art just makes the film look flippant and flimsy, like some kind of extra-obnoxious riff on FORREST GUMP. I hate all the LIFE OF CHUCK posters to an atavistic degree.

But damn, the movie itself is absolute chef’s kiss.

Excited to see this when it FINALLY drops in Australia mid/late-August. Hoping StudioCanal carries the 4K Blu-ray over here too...

It's NEON, what else can you expect at this point? It's not even out in cinemas until the end of next month in the UK for some arbitrary reason.

I couldn't agree more. Whoever signed off on that art needs not to have their job. Neon bungled that entire release. Which is fine, it'll get to be a come-from-behind classic now.

Definitely looks like something I would enjoy based off the trailer.

Is the sci-fi element heavy in this? I’m not a huge sci fi fan.

Thanks

Not at all, though the ending statement hinges on an element of the supernatural (let’s not ask Stephen King to not be Stephen King).
