Doesn't Disney own Studio Ghibli these days?

Aye, my bad. Googling it, it seems they just used to have the distribution rights to a number of their films for a while.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled jibber-jabber... ![]() So, what are we thinking? Indiana Jones anime? Season 2 of that bizarre Star Wars Visions show? |

So we can rule out Indiana Jones, Howard The Duck, and Willow, it's probably going to be Star Wars.
Although I wouldn't mind an animated film of Michael Jackson's Captain EO. Lucas really outdid himself with that one. |

One of the reasons why I loved the introduction of Rey in The Force Awakens is that it felt so reminiscent of Nausicaä’s introduction in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, which is my favourite Studio Ghibli. Two lone masked heroines scavenging through a wasteland.
A Studio Ghibli animated SW project would be a dream. Hope it’s not wasted on that Baby Yoda thing. |

Needed a 2 hour epic in the style of this:
With Ghibli's name shining brightly about it. But instead we have... Grogu. Okay I guess. Capitalizing on a character a lot of people like is better than giving good SW content in terms of making money. #DisneyDoesItAgain |

I'm glad this was only a short, Ghibli have better things to do than make star wars films. I'm sure they were well paid and looking at the short, they clearly did this fast and on the cheap. At least Miyazaki didn't seem to be involved and continues to work on his own film in the meantime, as it should be.
Why anyone would want Ghibli to put their resources and time on a full length Star wars film is beyond me. |

Disney only distributed certain Ghibli movies in the US (14 out of 19) , they never owned them. Anything released on BD up to 2013's The Wind Rises was by Disney, except for From Up on Poppy Hill which was GKIDS from the start and Grave of the Fireflies which is Sentai Filmworks, and everything after has been GKIDS.
I'm not a huge Star Wars fan and while I've seen The Mandalorian, I never really cared much so I'm not in a rush to watch this. I don't even have D+ and a short isn't going to make me subscribe lol I'll see it eventually. |

Thank God this was only a short.
Since the day Disney bought Lucasfilm I've been saying they should do a Disney animated (or even Pixar) Star Wars movie. THOSE I would watch. I would have been mad if they wasted a Star Wars movie on a Ghibli project. I want more Star Wars films (since the tv shows have all been mediocre at best), but I can't stand Ghibli movies. |
