Default Dedicated 4K UHD Blu-ray Player or Xbox One X

I recently returned the Apple TV 4K due to its fake HDR10 processing on all Dolby Vision, 4K SDR, and HD content on HDR10 tvs. I decided to go back to physical media only for 4k UHD movies and games. I currently have an Apple TV 4 for my HD streaming purposes. Lately I've being considering to buy a 4k UHD blu-ray player again. I used to have one then I sold it to go all streaming.

About a month ago, I preordered an Xbox One X and my intention is to use it as a 4k UHD bluray player, to play games, and have it as a 4k video streamer. Now, I'm thinking that I should get a dedicated 4k UHD player due to people stated that the Xbox One S 4k UHD blu-ray player has issues with disc playback. My Sony 55X930D tv does not support Dolby Vision, just HDR10. I've been looking at 4K UHD blu-ray players for under $250 such as the Sony UBP-X800. I'm confused right now. Should I use my Xbox One X when it arrives in November to play 4k blu-ray movies or should I get a dedicated 4k UHD blu-ray player?

I'd suggest the X800 for $250 or less with 2 free movies.
Very solid build and really good PQ.

Price could drop to around $200 after movie offer ends. Around BF I suppose.

Darn it - I was going to go from Xbox One S (and eventually X) to watching 4K content on ATV 4K and reduce my physical media/inventory... was the HDR quality that bad/noticeable? Most reviews/articles out there are too generic so can't really tell from those reviews.

I usually don't quote John Archer but his pro's and con's are worth a read.

Yes Apple has some issue to tackle but as John Archer stated at the end about the native switching which is the main complaint. (HDR usage not matched to source)

Quote:
In the end, it seems almost perverse of Apple not to provide at least the option for the Apple TV 4K to automatically adapt its video output to that of the source it’s playing, so that your TV always receives a native source image.

Not everyone would use such an option, preferring to stick with a slicker operating experience - and that’s fine. But the option should still be there.

So obvious is this, in fact, that I find it almost impossible to believe Apple won’t add an automatic switching option via a future firmware update. Unless, as suggested earlier, the box is designed so that all video always has to run through the deepest recesses of Apple’s video processing engine...

I just purchased the Sony UBP-X800 at Best Buy this morning along with two 4k movies (The Mummy (2017 Version), and Alien: Covenant). They priced match amazon.com price. I'll be using the X800 for 4k UHD discs. With my ATV4, I'll be streaming 1080p movies from iTunes.
