Default Sweet Charity?

When Sweet Charity got a release in France on BluRay last year, there was talk that an announcement for a N American release would happen soon--but so far nothing. I was just reminded as an HD print just aired on one of the movie channels up here tonight... Any word? While something of a flop, and Fosse goes a bit crazy with trying out new techniques, I'm a big fan and would love to see a release (the existing DVD release actually cuts a minute of key footage, but the HD release seems to have it).

Also--does anyone HAVE the French release? Any chance that it actually isn't region locked?

OMG, I had no idea it was released. If it's region free, I'm importing. I LOVE this movie.

I have the French release. It's an older transfer but it is region free!

It's a Universal release so no Twilight Time. If Universal don't release it themselves in North America, Criterion or Shout are the best options.

Thanks--good to know it's region free! I think I'll see if I can find it cheap--if it uses the decent (not amazing but not bad) HD transfer that has been airing on HD channels here for a while, it should be worth getting.

ANd then I had no money--but I did recently finally get this and I am overall VERY pleased with it. It's the best I expect to see this film anytime soon--and yes, it DOES contain the rather crucial 1 minute bit that was cut from the print used for the N American regular DVD. It doesn't have the intermission music (though does not where the intermission is). The alternate "happy ending" is there as an option but in standard def and with burned in subtitles for some reason (but they are in the letter box). Still, at a good price, I'm pleased with this.
