I was wondering why the name of this film sounded familiar to me. Andrew Haigh is the director. I read the name of the film while I was looking over the director's work when I was thinking about buying 45 Years.

45 Years is fantastic, though perhaps not for everyone. It's a somber sit, but it packs a strong subtle punch.

Didn't like 45 years. Also didn't think there was anything "subtle" about it. Willing to give this one a shot though.

Not sure what you regard as subtle, but I thought it's ending was subtly devastating.

Can't say I agree. The scene of Charlotte Rampling flipping through the photos on the projector was a masterclass of subtle acting.

Went to see "Lean on Pete" last night. While I'd say it's my least favorite of Haigh's theatrical films, that's still a great recommendation because it's another great entry in his filmography. The stark photography is some of the best camerawork in his films, Charlie Plummer really establishes himself as a talent to watch for and
[Show spoiler]what do you know? Amidst the devastation that takes place, it ends on an inspiring note
.

I love Weekend and enjoy 45 Years, so I'm definitely looking forward to this. Andrew Haigh doesn't seem to disappoint.

Hopefully this does well enough to get a decent expansion. Would love to see it in theaters.

My local arthouse theater has this slated for April 27th . I like Andrew Haigh so that is a relief.

Despite expecting a more profound story that was sold from the trailer it was still a great coming of age story. At the end of the day its a pretty depressing movie in respect to what Charlie Plummer’s character has to go through, I found his character arc quite interesting though. There is a scene in particular that can be quite upsetting for most people specially after the story advances so much, I know some of the audience I saw it with didn’t take it very lightly. I don’t blame them.

4/5
