Default Upgrading Special Features & Documentaries

I'm curious on the thoughts of other cinephiles about not only upgrading the films themselves to 2K, 4K, 6K, 8K and beyond, but what do you all think about upgrading the behind-the-scenes documentaries, and special features that accompany the film, especially for popular older titles.

I recently was going through the Back to the Future 30th Anniversary Trilogy again the other day, and was watching some of the original featurettes and behind-the-scenes docs that accompany them. Also had a quick look at Jaws, Indiana Jones and Star Wars as well. Most have a lot of scratches, dirty negatives, and very low resolution quality. Now what I'm advocating for isn't for full 4K upgrades, or even 2K, but a proper remastering and 1080p scans for some of these. For me, the making docs are sometimes incredibly important to certain films, and should preserved with the same care and quality as the films themselves.

Thoughts?

I like it when they are all scratched up.....grindhouse style. Brings back good memories of going to the movie theater and the drive-in during the 60s and 70s....

The scratches don't bother me as much as just the low quality resolution on some of these. Most haven't been upgraded beyond 720i.

The deleted scenes in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon also being in 4K HDR and looking just as amazing as the main feature did on the UHD was pretty great.

We could use a thread for UHD's that have special features on the UHD.

Not to be a spoil sport but I just don't care for this shit anymore. And in the DVD era I was all about featurettes, commentaries, anniversary documentaries. Behind the scenes galore...

Now I just want ALL the money invested in a home video release going to the disc dize (100GB preferred!), picture quality via fresh scans and high bitrates, and bonus of immersive audio upgrade, provided directors don't veto it.

I agree, the absolute best picture and audio quality, with the proper restoration takes precedence over special features. But as a one time aspiring filmmaker who adores behind-the-scenes documentaries; the old school stuff, real cinéma vérité -- I'm only stating that the important films deserve these, not the behind-the-scenes featurette for the latest Will Ferrell movie (nothing against Will Ferrell), or even the latest Marvel movie. I'm talking about the classics, the Citizen Kane's, the John Huston and John Ford films, the Spielberg's and Coppola classics. The documentaries that accompanied those films I feel deserve to be also presented in the best quality as possible.

Many on set footages of Schindler's List were presented in HD in the documentary Spielberg, I want to see those on set footages fully in HD.
