I see that there are different Blu-ray releases from all over the world on the South Korean thriller "The Man from Nowhere" 아저씨 2010, and I was wondering if the picture quality on these is pretty much the same ?
Which version - except for the first limited edition of CJ Entertainment - would be the one to get ? ![]() |

By the way, sorry if there is a thread about this movie already... I tried to search for it but could not find it...

You can compare screenshots at caps-a-holic.com. The brightness/contrast levels on the US disc are slightly different than the Korean disc. I may prefer the Korean one for more shadow detail, but consider the price difference and take your pick.

The packaging is nice, but other than the slight contrast differences, the detail and source looks to be near identical:

The Korean release is obviously not something most people can afford, so I was wondering if anyone knew if, for example, the Italian release was better? Even the Japanese Blu-ray seems to be a BD25. I can take the subs from my Well Go release; I'd just like a better version when I want to watch it again soon.

My Well Go release seems to have died from disc rot
![]() Again, does anyone know which version to go for? Obviously, the Korean release is either unavailable or extremely expensive, so that's not an option. I'm thinking more along the lines of the Japanese release, maybe? They all seem to be on BD25s though, which seems to indicate the same "quality" as the Well Go release ![]() |

I thought so too but I managed to buy one on eBay about 2 months ago. I find the best thing to do for any movie I'm looking for is to set up a search on eBay and just be patient. It may take a long time but something should pop up at a reasonable price at some point.

Not sure if it even matters, since you're looking to upgrade, but if you contact Well Go they should be able to replace the rotted disc for you. They did this a couple of years ago for several titles I had (including "Little Big Soldier") that were bad right out of the gate.

I was thinking of upgrading my UK DVD, would the US BD be a decent upgrade since the Korean BD seems to be OOP?

The US BD is probably the next best option if you are not able to purchase the Korean BD. One thing to keep in mind is the picture quality on US BD is a noticeable step down compared to the Korean BD.
