Dead Island Definitive Collection launches on May 31 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. It will include "fully remastered" and "greatly improved" versions of Dead Island, Dead Island: Riptide, DLC from both games, and a bonus game, Dead Island: Retro Revenge. It should be noted Escape Dead Island is absent from this collection. Retro Revenge was recently outed in an Australian Classification Board rating. It appears Retro Revenge is a 2D side-scrolling beat ‘em up, based on a screenshot posted on All Games Beta’s Twitter account. ![]() Dead Island launched back in 2011 and we thought it was pretty good. Our review compared it to Fallout 3 but with zombies. While still good, Dead Island Riptide was more of the same, with some graphics and performances issues. In related Dead Island news, Dead Island 2 is still in development. It was delayed into 2016 and went through a developer change shortly after the delay. Dead Island 2 does not have a specific release date at this time. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Grim Reaper; 03-03-2016 at 07:54 PM. |

I've never played the Dead Island games, but if this is true, I might give it a go. Last edited by The Apocalypse; 07-23-2015 at 07:18 PM. |

Another HD remaster? Cool news, I guess. If you have a decent enough PC then you're just better off grabbing it during a sale. The remaster will be the same as playing the PC version on high settings @ 60 FPS (and 1080p) but will probably be double/triple the price... I grabbed the GOTY edition on a Steam sale for like $7.49 I believe. I could see the remastered edition being $40.
Still, a fun game to play solo or with friends. I enjoyed Dying Light as well. |

It's probably the first generation transition where the graphical quality upgrade is not close to revolutionary. And we are still plagued with framerate problems even without that revolution. And for a franchise like Dead Island, or, say, Borderlands, where the graphics were stylized to begin with, the step back in graphical realism is immaterial.
