Default Scorsese - The Color of Money & Bringing Out the Dead

Anyone know if The Color of Money on Disney+ Star is the same transfer as the poor quality Blu? Was hoping for a new physical release of this eventually, with better supplements, and was interested in whether Disney+ had improved on the awful 2012 Blu.

Also noticed Bringing Out the Dead was also on Disney+ in HD. Is this a new transfer? Again, been keen to see this get a decent Blu release.

I don’t think any new restorations have been done on either film, so they’ll likely look the same.

Bringing Out The Dead is absolutely cracking for anyone who hasn’t see it.

We don't have Star in the US, mainly because we already have Hulu, which is also owned by Foxney. But The Color of Money is on Hulu, though.

So is the Color of Money on Hulu the same transfer as the Blu or a new transfer? The Star version looks quite detailed from a quick glance. The muted colour scheme is very much part of the film’s look, but detail and grain appears good. I’ve not seen the Blu but read that it was an appallingly bad transfer (and not a big improvement over the DVD).

Given it’s an underrated Scorsese gem - with a poor physical release history, I’m keen to know if Disney simply knocked out a fresh transfer for this new batch of Star releases (for the UK/Europe launch)

Dunno about Hulu but Color of Money pops up on Amazon Prime from time to time, and it's the same as the Blu-ray.

Color of Money looks bad. It looked bad way back when w/ the transfer. Looks even worse today.

Ugggh hope this doesn't mean Paramount can't release it on BD in the US.
It's already Disney distributed outside the US on DVD.

They had Bringing Out the Dead on Prime a little while back and it looked pretty good on there. Didn't care for it much back when it originally came out, but revisiting it again I liked it. I'd actually put it near the top of the films Scorsese directed after Goodfellas.

Bringing Out The Dead is one of the very few Marty films I still haven't seen yet. I want to see it, but I don't see it anywhere. I don't see it on Blu-ray or streamings.

Come on over to my house and borrow the DVD.

I don't know if your library system is open lending things (mine is), but they might have a copy.

Wishful thinking, but if Cage himself is behind a rerelease for BOTD, maybe it will get done.

On Itunes in Canada, Bringing out the Dead is showing up as a 4K Dolby Vision film. I'll rent it later this week to see.

Since Scorsese's films are treated so poorly by studios when it comes to physical releases- I figure it will take a boutique label to get a great release of either of these two movies. Probably not Criterion since they've done so many of his already- but there are several great ones now which is awesome. All the garbage that's released and remastered on disc- why the hell are these two not shown any love yet. Freakin' crazy!

It's not showing up for me. I'm using the Paramount app with the Showtime add-on.

Just watched Bringing Out The Dead on Criterion Channel, part of their collection of 1999 films. This feels very personal. Scorsese said he was exorcising a lot of experiences with paramedics when his parents were ill. That last image of
[Show spoiler]the Pietà
, beautiful. This may be the most humane Scorsese film I've seen.

The guy playing the captain, was that the same guy at the beginning of Taxi Driver interviewing Bickle? I felt there was a lot of Taxi Driver in this.

I don’t remember much about BOTD, but the guy from Taxi Driver was Joe Spinell who died in the 80s.
