Oh jaysus yes! That said...StudioCanal pricing isn't the best in the world. Will have to wait and pick it up at under £13-ish.

Seems quite expensive for a release you hardly know anything about. The question is, will it be better than the Criterion release in any way? Also, this one seems four minutes shorter?

The Criterion Blu-ray of the film is only £13.15 on Amazon UK for the moment from all your music.

The four minute difference is probably PAL speedup, so I wouldn't pay much attention to that personally.

However, I am going region free in the new year (yay!) so I'm going to wait for the reviews before I make a decision which one to go for.

A lot of people still aren't region free, however, so this is still great news for the UK market.

I have the Criterion but I'm still pleased to see more Resnais on Blu-ray in the UK. January is shaping up to be quite the month for French cinema between the Godard set and the Rivette collection.

PAL speedup shouldn't be an issue for 1080p24 content.

The 86 minutes on the Amazon listing is almost certainly from the DVD version, which according to the BBFC site was passed uncut at 86 minutes.

As such, Dougling is most likely correct. The 86 minutes figure is likely an erroneous listing on Amazon's part based on the DVD version.

Excellent news, certainly another essential film for the collection. Hopefully SC will get Bob Le Flambeur to us next year also. Although this plus the Godards a great start to 2016 for more French cinema in the UK.

Here's hoping it doesn't have the macro-blocking of the Criterion.

Was going to go for the DVD release, so hopefully this has an extras package. Did the DVD have any extras? Studiocanal has had issue in the past with porting over extras.

The press release has the following listed as extras -

· Emmanuelle Riva remembers Hiroshima
· Restoration featurette

It also confirms that the film is 90 minutes long on the Blu-ray (88 on the DVD).

Ignore the remark, RDA. Criterion's presentation of the film is outstanding.

I can't speak for Hiroshima Mon Amour, but you are a tad oblivious to Criterion's questionable compression.

Funny, if I told someone to ignore your remarks you'd probably ban me.

Macro-blocking is there. Fact.

I can't detect any humor. You have not even seen the disc. This much is clear.

And anyone "seeing" macroblocking on this release is clearly trying to sell you a beach home in the middle of the Arizona desert.
