Default The best CD/DVD wallets to store Blu-Rays?

As a movie collector, I have a ton of movies on both DVD and Blu-Ray. The problem is that they take a lot of room, which has my mom nuts (college student ). Well I have a CD wallet that holds my Movie/Broadway music collection that works well, so I was thinking about finding a big CD/DVD wallet to house all my movies.

My questions are:

1.) I think I know the answer is yes, but I just want to be sure: Can a wallet marketed as a CD wallet or DVD wallet work just as well as for Blus? I assume yes, since they're all discs, but I just wanted to make sure.

2.) Are there certain disc slots better than other? (like a textured rubber slot compared to just plastic)

3.) Are there any wallets that you recommend over others? The ones I'm most looking for is the biggest disc capacity for the lowest price. (Feel free to say duh in your post if you want ).

4.) Do you even believe in using CD/DVD wallets to store movies, or prefer just leave them in their cases on the shelf? (I'm talking about normal Blu and DVD cases, not box sets. I can guess the response if I was talking about box sets like the Wizard of Oz or the Planet of the Apes sets ).

Thank you for any help you give. It's very much appreciated.

Number 2 is a great question, I asked the same on google, and it brought up your thread. Annoyingly no-one has answered in three years.

So, would anyone recommend a particular type of disc wallet for blu-rays?

If you want something that looks nice, I'd go with something like this (sold at Amazon in different colors and in various sizes)

If you just want a large capacity then the Case Logic zippered cases should do the trick: http://www.amazon.com/Case-Logic-Nyl.../dp/B00005ATMF

I have one of these. I like that it has a molded exterior as it gives it a nicer look and better protection. I don't use it for BD's though, just computer back-ups and such:

I also have these Movie bins from Atlantic which I put my DVD's in. The good thing about these are you can fit the whole cover art in there and liner notes without damaging anything. Each bin holds like 72 DVD's too and it's fun to flip through them (sort of gives you that old music store feel). I find them to be more accessible than binders. I have 3 of them broken up by genres. They're collapsable when not in use too, which is nice: http://www.amazon.com/Atlantic-96635.../dp/B001U61FN4

I use one of these for my blurays and DVD's:

I'm really happy with it, fits under the TV and will hold close to 700 films. Don't really have the room for a shelf system in the house so I went this route (don't think the wife wants the video store look in our living room anyways ). I keep all of the original cases stored neatly away so I have them in case I want to sell a film, get a bigger house with a media room, etc. I keep the discs in paper sleeves with the clear window in front, write the name and year of the film on the top front for organization. When looking for a film it's very similiar to looking through a card catalog. Been keeping discs this way for some time and never have had a problem. I do keep all my multi-disc sets (Mel Brooks Collection, Harry Potter, etc), digibooks and TV Series on a shelf.

Resurrecting this thread - really surprised there aren't more responses! My collection has reached that point where I have nowhere else to store my films, so I'm having to look towards these wallets. I've found some on eBay which claim to hold around 416 for only £12, but I'd prefer to see if anyone has any input surrounding personal preference and which cases are least likely to scratch discs overtime. It would be great to get something with a big capacity and room for the cover art, but I can't find anything like that (at least not here in the UK).

My only experience was with a large capacity CD wallet to store my music CDs.

Something like this
https://www.amazon.com/Case-Logic-KS.../dp/B00025HIO4

I do not recommend it. I think part of the problem is I stored it laying flat. With so many discs the ones on the bottom probably saw some crushing forces along with the occasional shifting around in the pocket from moving it to different places around my house. I think this was a perfect storm of pressure and sliding forces that may have caused some discs to have scratches and even develop a little haze on them. Not 100% sure what was going on, but I never used it again.
