Been gone for a while, what's the state of Blu-ray these days?

Hi,

Used to love to watch and collect Blu-rays but raising kids and other responsibilities have taken precedents over this in the past few years. I see blu-ray sections in stores have become very small, and with so many streaming services, I wonder how the market is.

What about 4K? Has that taken off?

On the rare occasion I do get to watch a movie, I usually stream it. This is usually for Disney movies for the kids.

Kinda sucks, because I used to love watching and shopping for movies and watching my collection build.

On the plus side, at this point, I feel I already own all of my favorite movies that are released on Blu-ray.

What are your thoughts?

It's more niche now, with obscure films that we never thought would see the light of day, including Tv films and films that never even made it to dvd getting released with commentary and extras. I love it.

We physical media/film lovers are now just waiting for Paramount and WAC to catch up with all the classics sitting in their vaults....

And more often than not, they're either packaged badly which causes scratches or they're scratched at the factory.
