Glad the 4K is finally coming. I couldn't convince myself to go see this in theaters. The theatrical experience has been sucking the joy out of movie watching for me. Ah to be back in NYC and going to numerous theaters everyday...

Amazon sent the dreaded delayed e-mail. No estimated delivery date. I pre-ordered day 1.
B&N had the steelbook and the standard editions in stock. I can rely on them to get Criterion, Arrow, and Studio Ghibli releases in on time. Ended up being cheaper than Amazon with the member discount stacking on top of the new release discount. |

I’d agree. It’s the same layout but finally with background artwork like it should always have had.

I've had no email but my my May 9th preorder has stalled and it was obvious that something is wrong because the USA to UK projected delivery was 24 hours; they'd not booked a courier delivery as usual. I contacted Amazon via chat and their Indian rep lied and lied and lied. She claimed it was in the dispatch process and would arrive today despite earlier in the chat accepting that was impossible! Amazon is a joke now!

My partner is an accountant and she's alarmed by the "Accounts overdue" flag on the publisher Elysian's Companies House entry. https://find-and-update.company-info...mpany/11331402 I'm also alarmed because this morning I cancelled my delayed USA import in favour of the UK steelbook! I think the U.S. steelbook is the better looking of the two. The U.K. steelbook is way too plain. If the image was in color, then it would match the U.S. Studio Ghibli steelbooks better. But making it a white image just makes it feel like a high school digital art project.
I do think the U.S. cover is too "busy" for it to match the Ghibli steelbooks (even though I personally like how busy it is), but it does look really good overall. I think its a great design for a collectible steelbook- it uses a specific image from the film (so it kind of feels disconnected unless you've seen it), but one that looks great in the wide format. |
