Thumbs up We are obligated to EDUCATE the Joe Six Packs and soccer moms out there...

Anytime you're at a Retail store with some poor guy buying HDDVD's (not knowing what has happened), please take the time to NICELY explain and let them in on the situation.

Chances are if you approach them in a nice way and find out if they know about the recent studio defections, they will not likely buy another HDDVD disc, and many of them may have just bought or a received a new HDDVD player for Christmas, so they can still return it for a BD player or a PS3 within 30 days.

my 2 cents thats all....I have already been doing when I am buying/browsing the BLU sections at BB, CC, and WalMart.

The same can go in regards to your friends, family, and coworkers. the death of HDDVD could take weeks and even months to become MAINSTREAM PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE!

So don't rely on the news agencies to report the death of HDDVD, do it your self by educating other fellow HD enthusiasts.

Couldn't care less whatever they'd buy. It's their fault for not thoroughly researching a product, especially if it's a considerable investment.

Any fool who spends 100's of dollars on something new without doing any research deserves whatever they choose.

I've spend the last year arguing and trying to educate people in why Blu-ray is superior. Looks like our efforts paid off. I'm done doing stupid debates/infomercials over an obviously superior format.

it's a lot different now...We all had our faiths and doubts on whether Blu-ray wuold win or not....but there could be a sucker out there who is not forum/internet savvy who just buys an HDDVD player or more HDDVD movies on impulse...

I am not talking about converting HDDVD fanboys to buying Blu-ray....I could care less either. I am specfically talking about the uneducated consumers who have no idea what the hell is going on right now...

You dont need to get a part time job at Best Buy to do so, whenever you're at the store buying Blu's...give some advice to the poor schmuck next to you still buying HDDDVDs

Arrow Not as big a loss as you think.

I kind of take it in stride now. I have to stop and consider some obsolete technologies I bought into. Sold many of them, some to collectors.

No particular order:

* Atari 2600
* Atari 800
* Atari Jaguar game system
* Coleco Pong with Hocky / Table Tennis (Pong) / Handball
* Sega Master System
* Sega Genesis
* Timex Sinclair 1000 computer
* TI-99/4A Home Computer (Still have Silver and Beige versions)

While you never "get your money back", you have to consider did you get your money worth? If you got your use and enjoyment out of it, you can essentially throw it away even if it works. But we keep things out of sentimental / working value.

I bought 2 or 3 VHS machines over the years and currently have a VHS / DVD combo. I don't swear and curse over the money spent. I got my use from the units and still have some need for a VHS player.

The retailers themselves need to make it clear by getting rid of HDDVD ASAP.

They are making such statements. After all, you can't support what you can't sell. Warner was a great strike but now I am seeing we need retailers to finish this off as the remaining red campers refuse to die.

Afterwards, if Tool-shiba wants to join camp blu - welcome. But we don't need them to admit defeat - just to stop making HD DVD players. Ugh, the landfill we are going to have...

I agree 100% with yall...but I cannot stand the thought of some siehard HDDVD fanboy working at Best Buy or another Retail chain, or even just a pro-HDDVD customer who could be mis-informing the uninformed customers browsing the HiDef aisles....

I personally have a hard time seeing another schmuck buying into HDDVD, unknowing of current events, and not do anything about it.

A story or two here had indicated that when they tried to intervene, the HD DVD person got nasty. You never know who is buying a second player, or simply hates Sony and buys HD DVD to spite them. Then there was the CC employee who told a member of this forum that blu-ray causes cancer!

A of couple of times when I browsed the blu-ray aisles, some people were browsing HD DVD. I eye balled them a moment, and they eye balled me back. But I said nothing. Not because I don't care, but because they were convinced. Once you buy the machine it is very hard to convince a person to switch. It's almost like religion.

Now, the two guys I spoke to who were looking into the technologies are definately getting blu-ray. Fortunately I caught them in the "blank slate" state so I could enlighten them.

If a person asks me a question I will answer it. I may even chide in if a person is looking helpless and confused. But I will NOT tell a person to switch and entice an argument. Some people can't be reached. I'm eye balling you, Amir.

We need a truck like the one Ford was giving away on the BCS National Championship game, with tvs everywhere playing Finding Nemo on Blu-ray and parking ourselves on the soccer fields
