Default Amazon not shipping Priority Courier to Australia anymore?

Seems that in the last week or so, Amazon has disabled the ability to ship to Australia in anything but the slowest shipping option.

I can't seem to be able to select either Expedited Shipping or Priority Courier Shipping and seem to be stuck with only the Standard Shipping option.

I've been shopping from there for many many years and always use the Priority Courier Shipping option which usually comes via DHL or UPS in 4 or 5 days.

I've tried all of my accounts and they all only allow the slowest shipping option.

Is this the same for everyone?

Here in NZ the opposite has happened, we can only now select Expedited or Priority shipping. Standard has dissapeared. Only happened in the last week.

Yeah I noticed I had no options shipping a fluoro bank light but I figured it was just the seller. Shame. Maybe it's to encourage people to use Amazon Australia? But not everything is available in Australia... That's almost the whole reason I use Amazon.

I actually don't mind because the standard shipping option has my parcels generally arrive in 2 weeks or less anyway. Pity the same can't be said about Amazon UK...

I just checked to see what happens when I go to order Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and noticed two shipping options:

- AmazonGlobal Standard
- Priority Shipping

I'm starting to lose faith in Australia Post. The other week I sent two parcels back to the UK and one arrived damaged, the contents no longer sellable by the store. Now, I've been awaiting a parcel from America that was supposed to arrive between the 10th and 19th of this month, sent via Standard Shipping and has been lost.

Yep, only two methods available here. Well this is going to be major blow to my international ordering now.

Wasn't there some comments in another thread about Amazon having shipping issues? Apparently it's a temporary glitch of some sort.

I'm the exact opposite. I don't get the standard shipping option at all, only the premium and mid range Amazon Global shipping options which means a minimum 14.97 US shipping fee for 3 blurays. Morons.

my test..........................

Choose a delivery option:
averages 9-13 business days
$17.46 - AmazonGlobal Standard Shipping

have a few items in the basket.....

as I have been removing them - it's been deducting 2.49 per item...... so what it has been doing is using the Expedited Shipping rate.....

Expedited Shipping
Product Category Per Shipment Per Item
Books, Software, Video Games, VHS videotapes $9.99 $6.49*
CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray, Music Cassettes, Vinyl $9.99 $2.49*

EDIT....

further.... the prices for Fullfilled by Amazon appear to be split -

i have two items...

averages 9-13 business days
$14.97 - AmazonGlobal Standard Shipping

and several items from Amazon..

averages 9-13 business days
$22.44 - AmazonGlobal Standard Shipping

Order Summary
Items (7): USD 113.13
Shipping & handling: USD 27.42
Total before tax: USD 140.55
Estimated tax to be collected: USD 0.00
Order total: USD 140.55

Definitely seems to be a major glitch with their shipping options

Yep, there's definitely a glitch. Standard shipping for me has suddenly become more than twice the usual price for one item... They're bloody slow to sort it out. Won't be buying a thing until they fix it.

I ordered three Blu-rays, the shipping cost was $24 AUD. Shipping for another pre-order I placed for a single Blu-ray came in at $12.98 USD.

I got into a chat with Amazon, the agent kept telling me I placed the order with Expedited Shipping. I was looking at the order invoice in front of me - it said Standard. Eventually he gave me $5.00 credit for each order, and told me to contact them when my orders arrive.

just take some screen shots - it says clearly Amazon Standard Shipping.

Its why I don't wish to place any orders : having to deal with Amazon NonExistant Service.

I contacted them today through the chat feature, The rep said it was strange that Priority Shipping was unavailable and would forward the issue up the chain to be investigated. Hopefully this prompts some action. I encourage anyone else having issues to also contact them.

I'm still being slapped with exorbitant shipping charges despite choosing Standard Shipping.

I contacted Amazon about three orders that needed to be fixed, and in all cases they simply waived the shipping fee altogether. That's tasty. But at the same time, if the glitch keeps up and I keep contacting them, what if they start to get pissy?

This needs to be sorted out, ASAP.

I'm glad it sounds like it's a glitch because I have about $25 of a gift card I still haven't used for Amazon and I'm not paying US$18 just to ship one damn blu-ray.

I contacted them last week and let them know about the problem, They said they would forward it to the relevant department and get it fixed ASAP... But that was early last week and it's still not fixed. So I have emailed Jeff Bezos... That should hopefully get the issue looked at and fixed quickly.
