Default Saw (2004) 4K UHD

With the upcoming movie Saw 8: Jigsaw (2017), the perfect moment for Lionsgate to release the first movie on 4K UHD Blu-ray. Back at it's 10th Anniversary it was 4K remastered and limited screened.

With Jigsaw's pending release Saw's absence on UHD is curious, especially as it has a 4K master ready to go while LG is out there releasing a filmout UHD of The Lincoln Lawyer. Maybe they want to make sure they do it right, which would be a change from their awful handling of these movies on BD in the US.

I was just thinking about this recently as well... while it would've made more sense to do a "movie money" tie in sort of thing with Jigsaw's theatrical release, perhaps we'll see a 4K release of the original Saw to tie in with the 4K release of Jigsaw? But yeah, at least it's nice to see confirmation that it was indeed restored in true 4K, considering the original was shot on film. Sadly I missed the 10th anniversary re-release... and also sadly, it seems like Saw II was the first to move into 2K DI territory, if IMDb is anything to go by. So ironically, yet unsurprisingly, the oldest of the franchise would be the only one to be in true 4K.

And kidglov3s, I'm with you... I'd like to think that Lionsgate would realize that a 4K of Saw would be a better seller than a 4K of The Lincoln Lawyer

This along with Saw 2-7 need to be released on 4K Blu-ray in May 2021, leading up to Spiral (2021).

If Spiral does well in theatres I could see a 4K release happening, but they had nothing scheduled in the lead-up to the original release date, so I doubt we'll see anything next Spring.

Strange though because Lionsgate dumped all the Rambo films on the format when Rambo: Last Blood came out, but nothing for Saw?

Oh yeah, I forgot. For example, Lionsgate released the first John Wick on 4K in early 2017 leading up to the second one.
