Synopsis

This post is a few weeks old isn't it? I feel like we were discussing this in another post here on site a few weeks ago. If I remember correctly some of us wondered if Sony wasn't planning to release it themselves since it was getting a 4k scan.

That specific post is new, but Tony Todd posted something similar a few weeks ago, yes. I think folks were discussing it in the Scream Factory thread.

Here's hoping the film's fully uncut.

I don't really care who does it but I do prefer to see Shout releasing it because they'll go the extra mile. Major studio presentations don't excite me at all even if it's something like Candyman. Don't feel like wading through unskippable ads, trailers and other junk before the film.

If Sony releases it, it will likely be handled in exactly the same way that 976-Evil was. I'm not opposing a Scream Factory release by any means, but I do think a Sony release could be just as nice.

As I stated several times before, I could see where 976-Evil may have been a test run for Sony. Given the likely fall timing 1 year later from that release it will be interesting to see what else is announced in the coming months.

I honestly rather see Sony release a native 4K UHD in the vein of Bram Stoker's Dracula and the upcoming Quick & the Dead than just another Scream Factory Collector's Edition, dammit.

GOOD! That means my Candyman 4K UHD wish fulfillment fantasy is close to becoming a reality.

Hopefully the unrated cut is the one getting the restoration too.
