USA The Bloodstained Butterfly (1971) (Arrow Video) - August 23, 2016

http://www.arrowfilms.co.uk/shop/ind...product_id=819

Quote:
Synopsis:

Directed by Duccio Tessari (Death Occurred Last Night, A Pistol for Ringo), The Bloodstained Butterflymelds the lurid giallo traditions popularised by Dario Argento and Mario Bava with courtroom drama, resulting in a film that is as concerned with forensic detail and legal process as it is with grisly murders and audacious set-pieces.
When a young female student is savagely killed in a park during a thunderstorm, the culprit seems obvious: her lover, TV sports personality Alessandro Marchi (Giancarlo Sbragia, Death Rage), seen fleeing the scene of the crime by numerous eyewitnesses. The evidence against him is damning… but is it all too convenient? And when the killer strikes again while Marchi is in custody, it quickly becomes apparent that there’s more to the case than meets the eye…
Starring 70s heartthrob Helmut Berger (Dorian Gray, The Godfather: Part III) alongside genre mainstays Evelyn Stewart (The Psychic, The Case of the Scorpion’s Tail) and Carole André (Colt 38 Special Squad), and featuring a score by Gianni Ferrio (Death Walks at Midnight), The Bloodstained Butterfly is presented uncut and in a sumptuous new 4K restoration that allows this unique and haunting thriller to shine like never before!

This one doesn't seem to be getting any love at all. Never seen it but seeing as it's a giallo I will have to buy it.

Ditto and the fact that I keep hearing so many good things about it makes me want to buy it even more.

I watched the English language version yesterday and Helmut Berger is dubbed by someone else. Strange because he speaks English fluently.

Happened fairly often, even to Robert Kerman who was American :/

Got my copy today from Diabolik. I love the cover art even though I'm sure it has nothing to do with the film. :-) looking forward to the Jones / Newman commentary. Will be watching this one later tonite.

Just a heads up...

Barnes & Noble has The Bloodstained Butterfly for only $19.99.

There's a 20% off coupon good until the end of the month, which brought it down for me to just $17.27 (with tax) shipped. If you are a B&N member you get free express shipping.

He does speak English, but with a fairly pronounced German/Austrian accent and actors used to get dubbed all the time to get rid of their native accents. Actors also often didn't stick around to dub their own performances for films they strictly did for money. Helmut Berger was a legendary party boy, so he may have been off doing more fun things after the last take.

Thanks. I just ordered The Bloodstained Butterfly for $18.01 and free shipping from Barnes & Noble.

I recommend that all of you get the Honey extension on your web browsers, because it checks for any existing coupon codes, and applies them to your purchase. I saved $3.00 on this purchase with some 15% discount that I didn't even know existed.

Another Ritrovata travesty. Really wish Arrow were able to get the ungraded scans from Ritrovata then do the color themselves.

Wouldn't say travesty for this one, has all the Ritrovata hallmarks but I would still say 8/10.
