Well I think that pretty much confirms that this release is genuine and not a load of crap. I wonder if Fox will split the film over 2 discs due to its running time.

Nice news on Cleopatra KingSimba it should look fantastic. I've got the 3 disc DVD. Cleopatra: The Film That Changed Hollywood is a two hour documentary.

This I hope will look great on Blu ray. I always found "Cleapatra" a very intelligent epic, but without much passion. Will definitly buy "Cleapatra"

Me too. Just wish we could see some of the scenes cut. One battle for starters went, and look at that opening. Can't tell me they just set that up for a couple of shots! Mankewicz originally wanted to release it as two four hour movies, "Cleopatra and Caesar" and "Cleopatra and Anthony", so you can see there is a lot gone missing. sad news is I think most of it got thrown away by Fox or sold on for stock footage for other movies.
Hope it is a proper up to Ben-Hur standard transfer!

Well the release date is three months away, & it was four months away when pre-orders went up in the UK. It looks to me like an online retailer jumped the gun & the others had to join in so as not to lose pre-orders. I wouldn't think Fox are too happy about this, I'd think they's announce it worldwide sometime in December. It's nice to have a few titles to look forward to after Christmas. I've pre-ordered it from Amazon, £11.20 looks a good price, becouse of the length of the movie & extras, I think it's bound to be three discs.

The HD transfer that's on Sky Movies doesn't look so good, it looks like a third of the colour is missing (the DVD's look much better!), but I'm sure the Blu will look fantastic.

I'm suprised by that comment because I believe Sky's CLEOPATRA to be one of their very best HD broadcasts. Detail is fantastic and the colour looks perfect, whilst the DVD colour in comparison looks exaggerated. I doubt that the Blu-ray will look vastly different - the HD master for Sky is not very old and the Blu-ray is bound to be from the same source.

The last time this was shown in london was in 70mm DTS at the bfi southbank
looked great.
