Has anyone here attempted to watch several movies in a foreign language with the subtitles in their native language? Just curious.

I have, but isn't this very common? In many countries, subtitles are usually available when it comes to foreign films at the cinema, to take one example concerning the topic.
I usually prefer to watch films with English subtitles though, no matter what language the film is in, as it is most common to find and because I am used to it. At least if it's available. But I can also watch films subtitled in my native language or second language too, or another one that I can understand on a basic level if there aren't subtitles in the languages I'm most fluent in. |

I always watch foreign movies in my native tongue (English, how novel). But once I did watch a Chinese film with German subs (Painted Skin, 2008). I thought I knew enough German to understand the film, but it was quite a challenge.
