Damn. This is one of those tough ones for me.

One one hand, Gyllenhaal is awesome. As are Laurent and Gadon. And A24 puts out some of my favorite films by far.

OTOH, this comes with crap features.

Tough call.

Shame there's no commentary! Still buying this Blu-ray day one, but god dammit, this movie NEEDS a commentary by the director!

No brainer for me, one of my favorites of the year so far and beautifully shot. I have the Vudu release right now and it doesn't do well at all with the compression in the darker scenes of the movie. Now I have to decide if I should cancel my steelbook order and just get this one instead. Probably just get both.

Exponentially intrigued by this film. Really, really liked Villenueve's Prisoners, so I believe I'd be a fan of this. Also love A24 Studios, as they put out some tremendous films and I really, really hope this is one of them. There's a 95% chance I will be purchasing this on Day One and there's a good chance I do something rare -- for me anyway -- and watch it on purchase day. We'll see what happens, but this film seems very fascinating.

I didn't even notice that the crap random photo art was for the DVD. Too busy flying off the handle...

I hope the Blu is more like the art GxyExpress999 just re-posted. That would indeed be just fine.

Clearly they want it to sell. If Criterion ever releases it they can use one of the neat poster arts. But the DVD art is perfect to get consumers interested. Working at a video store I'd much rather have what they went with for the artwork than one of the others. Nobody would rent it otherwise. I fully expect it to be a very strong renter with this art. People won't like the movie, but at least they'll rent it. I'll never understand people's surprise at studios using commercially appealing artwork.
