Always down for some B-movie Eric Roberts. Not sure if I want to pay £25 for the four of these on two discs, but count me in eventually. Surprised there has been no real advertising for this. Guessing extras free though.

I only really care about the first two. They've been on my blu ray wish list forever so i'll be buying, even if it's just a stop gap until something better comes along

The UK DVDs I have truly suck - in fact I think they might even be DVD-Rs??

I've e-mailed the company 4 Digital with some technical questions about the blu ray release and will post if I get a response.

I really just want the first two The third one was an interesting change of pace, albeit a bit slower paced than the first two... but the fourth one just felt like a generic straight-to-video actioner that barely felt connected to the other three. Although the fencing battle in the finale was pretty awesome, and predated the similar looking dojo battle in Kiss of the Dragon. Plus Phillip Rhee looked like he was channeling Bruce Lee and the "bako" whip in Game of Death.

The first may be a bit melodramatic *looks at Eric Roberts*, but it still holds a place in my heart for someone who used to train in Tae Kwon Do. The second one is just a tons-of-fun guilty pleasure

Haha It's funny that after all the ass kicking, Best of the Best basically ends with
[Show spoiler]all the guys (even 'evil' eye patch dude) crying like babies.

The important question for this release is, will Best of the Best 2 and Best of the Best 3 finally be uncut in the UK? I think all previous incarnations have had bits trimmed. I checked the BBFC website and it doesn't look like anything's been resubmitted (yet) which I guess doesn't bode well.

Hey, I get choked up watching the finale myself I also loved the lighting/cinematography in the final moments of the Tommy Lee/Dae Han fight. Hell, Phillip Rhee's acting jumped up substantially from his prior film L.A. Streetfighters/Ninja Turf to the first BOTB. And then we got a Hollywood-backed "fight to the death" film for the sequel

As for the BBFC submission, or lack thereof, it would be weird if these were new HD masters, yet had old cuts. Even in the US, BOTB2 was originally cut by seconds to get an R-rating, but the cuts were waived for the 2007 US DVD. On that note, I sadly don't see Fox putting out a blu in the US, and Sony at best would do a BD-R for the first film.

Can't see the rape scene in the third film being passed uncut tbh.

Let's hope you're right. Many unanswered questions regarding this release but fortunately we don't have to wait more than three weeks to find out.

Whoa, I was thinking about these films the other day. I only ever saw the first two, but I haven't seen either of them since the early 90's. Remember the first one having an unusual (though positive, almost Rocky-esque) ending, but they seemed to really up the violence and brutality in the second film! It's was like as though the producers bought the name "Best of the Best" and made a completely different film with it.

At least... that's how I remember them... Worth a blind buy? Obviously, I saw the first two, but I was a pre-teen when I watched them.

As completely different as the first two are in tone, they're surprisingly from the same director. The latter two were actually directed by Phillip Rhee himself. Worth it for the first two, but YMMV on the latter two.

That rape scene wouldn't be a problem now. I doubt they'd even cut it for a '15' anymore.

Wow great price, not quite American Ninja set price but still very good. The first two are good enough to spend that day one, never seen 3&4.

I do expect this to appear £10, one day or in a box set deal on Amazon. Not sure to bite before reviews are out?

I've already taken the plunge. My copy's been dispatched and is arriving Monday so I'll have a look Monday evening and report back with details.

Brave man! Do get back to us and let us know how the first 2 films in particular look. Matching the standard ogf the US release of 3 and 4 would be fine by me, with the same audio from the US R1 dvd, which was in 16:9 ...

I just decided to take a chance ordering this as well! It will be interesting to see if the ending of the first film is as bromantic as I remember it.

Not bothered about 3 & 4 and the poor artwork, but enjoyed the 1st movie as a kid and it's another to scrub off the wishlist. Will force the Mrs to watch it one evening next week to make up for her X Factor obsession delaying me seeing Dead End Drive-In!
