How is it possible that this movie is barely available on DVD let alone not out on Bluray yet! This movie is timeless and all the kids these days would still want to shred it up like Cru!

Bring us RAD!!!

Never seen Rad, but since I grew up in the '80's I'd definitely be onboard for this - just did some quick research, and I don't see where it's even available on DVD - at least not Region 1 DVD.

A while back, I did see another '80's film about kids riding BMX bicycles: It was an Australian film called BMX Bandits, starring a young Nicole Kidman - interesting film, but quite cheesy

Yup that was the other one. rAd was much better IMO. Something about rad just hit the magic chords and made you want to go do awesome bmxing. The other Classic had josh brolin as a sKateboarder called thrashin. Double feature RAD/Thrashin would be epic!!!

Off topic but, since "Thunder in Your Heart" is in the same 80's "montage" style fashion as many songs from 80's movies were, someone went and made what I believe is the greatest Rocky tribute/montage ever made. Take a look.

BMX Bandits was a fun watch, but nothing earth-shattering; I watched it more for the era/time period than for any other reason.

I did see Thrashin' (1986) several years back - great film about skateboarding - I was never a skateboarder, but, again, I'm an '80's kid so the era was cool. IIRC, The Red Hot Chili Peppers had a small cameo in the film....

I watched Rad so many times on vhs. Some of the kids in my neighborhood even tried to build our own Hell Track, which was pretty much a few plastic slides and ramps, good times!

Sounds like our neighborhood too

I think today's kids deserve one of these movies. I don't think the absence of cellphones and ipads will date the movie at all - it'd send the right message, go out and bike! lol

Agreed. As a kid growing up during the time this film is set, I have fond memories of riding bicycles all over the neighborhood. This was not only good exercise, but kept me & others from becoming couch potatoes - like a lot of kids are these days...

Need this on neither DVD or Blu. I seen this many time on VHS way back to the 1990s and I don't have it in VHS but my next door neighbor own it. Probably wait for 2 year for 30th Year Anniversary to come I hope.

It aired on INHD (before it was renamed to MOJO) so a HD master already exists.

Loved this movie as a kid. Always practiced stunts on my bike after watching it. lol Would like to get a copy so my kids could watch it. Since the The Dirt Bike Kid is getting a release maybe this will be next.

The Dirt Bike Kid already came out and got a very good transfer.

RAD (one of my top fave films) unfortunately will probably stay wrapped up in distribution rights hell for a long time. I was lucky enough to get a copy of the INHD screening and retired my VHS copy a long time ago.

As awesome as the INHD screening looks compared to the old VHS and Laserdisc, the film could still look a lot better if transferred properly to Blu Ray.
