Default Can I turn my down firing subwoofer on it's side?

I have a downstairs neighbor, and while I have my subwoofer always at 0, it's still pretty loud. I currently have a down firing subwoofer and was wondering if I turned it on it's side, and put some kind of isolation pad under it, would that help keep some of the sound from going through the floor?

You most certainly can turn it on it's side or on its back to fire upwards,or put it on a small plastic step stool.Or on a pillow of the appropriate size,I have done all those things at various times.Of course you know that subs are not directional so you shouldn't be able to pinpoint where the bass is coming from.I live in an apartment and never had any noise complaints and I have the power to drive my system loud but at my age I just have it on low.Experiment with placement and go with the sound you like the best.
