getting blu ray into the mainstream over dvd is the main priority. I had an idea and thought i'd run it by you guys. If the studios that support blu were to advertise blu in their theatre releases... such as a commercial in the new releases or even a "see it on blu" in the ending credits. I think it would inform a lot of people that wouldn't have known before and most likely would spark interest. Just an idea that i think could help take down our next target.

National Treasure 2 snuck Blu-Ray into the Goofey Skit before the Movie. I agree with you that it needs to be obvious.

Apparently there already has been Blu-ray advertising in theatres. But, now that the initial hurdle is 90% scaled, I'm sure that it will become more prevalent. You also have to remember that advertising new technology is a progressive procedure. Companies won't blow hundreds of millions of dollars on advertising when the revenue is less than that. As the format grows, so does the advertising. They could go on a media blitz, but that would only succeed in putting them at a loss that doesn't guarantee a quick return on investment. In that case, a lot of people would become aware of Blu-ray, but what are the chances that the commercial will actually sell the technology to the consumer? At this stage, the companies are doing the business smart thing in getting us, the enthusiasts, to show people what they are missing out on. It's ultimately up to us to really get this MoFo off the runway. Once in the air... then we can let the auto-pilot engage.

As people begin their mass migration into the digital age of televisons in the coming year, it's the B&M stores selling the televisions that will sell Blu-ray and Blu-ray will sell the televisions. Bundled purchases marrying both TV and Blu-ray player by manufacturer will become more prevalent. When they buy that $1000+ TV, adding $200 or $300 onto their no interest for 18 months credit cards won't be a big hurdle to overcome.
