Since Netflix has distributed Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, can Paramount still release a physical Blu-ray copy?

I doubt it. Paramount’s name is nowhere on it. This one likely won’t even be released for digital purchase.

BUT, it is possible the license included some kind of clause for a physical release. If so, though, Netflix probably has a lengthy exclusivity window.

I didn't know John Ashton was still alive. Saw him and Reinhold in a youtube clip along with Murphy a few days ago promoting the film. As soon as I saw it was a Netflix exclusive my jaw dropped lower than when I saw Ashton looking old. I'm sorry but these exclusives won't make me sign up for the service. Why the heck isn't this a theatrical release?

That was a Paramount produced movie that Amazon distributed. Axel F is a movie Paramount sold the license to. It is not the same... and seems unlikely to get a physical release, which is a shame. I hope Paramount made some sort of stipulation that enables them to sell home media.

I think there’s a good chance. Both The Lovebirds and The Cloverfield Paradox went directly to Netflix and have physical releases.

Both of those films were produced by Paramount, intended for theatrical release, and then sold distribution rights. Different situation.

Netflix made this film. It's not like the other Paramount-made films that they've licensed to Netflix for a year, and then done BDs for.

Really too bad it may not get a physical release when all of the original movies are out on BD. Reminds me of "Being The Ricardos" which is an Amazon Original and it never received any physical release whatsoever. Not that it's such a great movie but still.

There's an entry for this to be released by Paramount late 2024 on this site though. Not sure if this was just added or what. I guess Paramount must have made it part of the agreement that this was not to remain streaming exclusive only?

As was pointed out above, that just means a user here created that page, hoping for such a release. All the pages here are created by members, there's nothing to stop someone from creating a page for a nonexistent release, even an impossible one.

Nothing has been announced and Paramount doesn't control the movie.

It's possible Paramount could ask Netflix to license the film to them for a physical media release to complete a UHD/BD set. That is the only way this will ever get a physical media release.
