Can't wait to see thsi in 3D in the cinema. It'll be great to see a proper-conversion and different genre in 3D, instead of just fantasy and animated films all the time.

Even though I really can't stand 3D, this is one of my favorite movies, so I'd like to see how it looks. And I'll definitely be getting the blu ray version once it's released.

I love James Cameron, but it's a little interesting on how he slagged loads of movies off for being rendered to 3D rather then being filmed in true 3D like he did.

Then here he is rendering an old movie of his own!!

What he's actually said is he doesn't like new films being given quick slapdash conversions just to make a bit more money. He's said that older films are alright as people have already seen them and the time and money can be spent on them, but for new fims they should be shot in 3D.

I think most of Titanic is a fantasy and it has it fair share of CGI animation. But I know what you mean....

Piranha II: The Spawning notwithstanding I think Titanic is my least favourite Cameron film. It really could have had more killer cyborgs in it. Or at least a pseudopod.

Will the 3D improve Billy Zane's 'acting', or the dialogue?

Well I can see where you're coming from about it being fantasy, as it is a fictional story based on real-life events.

But we haven't had any rom-coms in 3D, so that'll be interesting. I just hope this doesn't start another craze of either post-conversions or period dramas in 3D, as Titanic is unqiue since it has the scale that 3D can hold I think, whereas most other films of a similar genre can't.

3D conversion is wrong on principle, just like colourisation.

That would also be about 6 months after the theater release like normally takes for such big movies to come out on blu ray
Only for new releases not catalogue ones. Lion King was released straight after its theatre run finished last year.

I think with cinema re-releases they're almost using them as promotional events for the Blu-ray release. They did the same for Jurassic Park.

I want to make sure all the extras are included with the Blu. Hopefully it'll keep some value as September is far off.

You will if you continue to fill it with Titanic DVD's.

In all seriousness though the 4 disc set was pretty good package (I've been meaning to look at it!) and even though I only paid a fiver for it I'd keep it.

I guess the price is high due to demand for all things Titanic during the last few weeks (stating the obvious I know!).

100 years ago right now, the fateful night had ended. The ship was on it's way to the bottom of the ocean and the death toll was presumably still growing. Spare a moment for the 1,517 who lost their lives. R.I.P.
