hot take: i love psycho, but perkins doesn’t really do any noteworthy or memorable acting that you can’t see in a law and order episode. hitchcock is the star. the most famous scenes in the movie, don’t even have perkins in them.

you can argue that he doesn’t have to do a lot of acting fir the role, since he needs to be likable until the twist. but you really could have put anyone on that role and have the same outcome.

Perkins should have been nominated for an Academy Award. Remember, he was a teen idol (who even recorded a few albums) and was playing against type.

Maybe anyone except Vince Vaughn, who didn't come close to pulling it off. You would still need to prove it to me. Perkins was perfect in the part but I did vote for Stewart anyway.
