Default Sophia Loren Award Collection, Kino Video

I wanted to generate some interest and discussion for the three Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni titles that were released today (5/17/11) by Kino Video.

Sophia Loren: Award Collection Blu-ray

Boccaccio '70 Blu-ray

Marriage Italian Style Blu-ray

Sunflower Blu-ray

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow Blu-ray

First off, Criterion fans should know the face of Marcello Mastroianni from Frederico Fellini's 8 1/2, and well... anyone with the right tastes can see that Sophia Loren was a bombshell and played an important role in Italian cinema.

Let's get the discussion flowing. Thoughts? Reactions? Anyone going to purchase?

Here's the blu-ray.com review for Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow.

I waited 15 minutes before posting, because I wanted someone to mention the movies in this Award Collection, but no one has. So I'm just going to say this....

Sophia Loren is the most beautiful and sexy woman to ever have graced the Silver Screen.

I needed to say that....

Wait a minute. Is it for real? Thanks a million for the info. I mean I am looking for a nice copy of Sunflower in English for years but no luck. The only English DVD available is actually copied from VHS. Can u please confirm that Sunflower on BD is the English dubbed version? and is it Region A Locked?

Thanks.

I pre-ordered all 3 films and I should have them Wed. The films deserve their own thread but have been discussed mainly on the Kino Thread.

I wonder if any of the releases had slipcovers though.

Regarding Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow Blus...

So is the grain on the German disc fake?
Screenshot1
Screenshot2
EDIT: The two screenshots above are from the German Region B (not confirmed) disc that has no English options.

Those are not obviously exact frames, although the first one almost is, but from the same scenes as the ones in the review. Can't find my disc anywhere so can't match the screenshots.

And I wonder how for example this frame looks like in the US disc?

Thanks for this, US Blu-ray looks like an upscale in comparison.

I would have bought them all given decent editions, but alas, I had to cancel the pre-orders considering the treatment by Kino.

I'd go with Y, T & T, then Sunflower, but you should definitely get El Cid from the UK, its £7.99 as of now

You have good taste.

A noble thread, as she was recently honored by the Academy at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater for her lifetime achievements

from amazon I didn't get the cheapest price for them when they first went up for pre-order but I got two of them at about 23.99 and Y,Tand T for 29.99 I think it was. I think some of them originally pre-ordered at about 20.00ish each.

I was surprised the cases came in nicely.
