Much like the Xbox version that came out earlier in the week, you can now access both Apple TV+ and your own iTunes content from these consoles, as well as rent and buy from iTunes.
I’ve been trying out the PS4 version. Seems like a pretty close port of the ATV TV app, it runs very smoothly on the (pre-upgrade PS4) system, though the initial buffering for content feels a tad longer. Viewing progress on it syncs up with other devices, your content resolution rights carry over from the iTunes ecosystem, it allows you to sign in via your existing mobile device, it has no access to iTunes Extras for movies, and both the app itself, the ATV+ content, and your owned content seem to not be geolocked. For now, the apps are only downloadable from each console’s built-in store apps. Last edited by twentythird; 11-15-2020 at 05:28 PM. |

Sorry I can’t give you a good comparison, since my connection is hardly good enough to get a good idea of what the discrepancies are, but it seems to be pulling around the same average 10 Mbps on both devices over Wi-fi.
Also keep in mind that the PS5 reportedly has a significantly better Wi-fi connection. Last edited by twentythird; 11-15-2020 at 05:22 PM. |

It does and I confirmed it via Vudu and Disney+.
But I think Apple doesn't want anyone to use DV unless they have an AppleTV. What is strange is that if you hit the menu info, it says the movie is a DV movie but only HDR shows up. |

The TV app on other devices supports DV so that’s not the case. It probably will after an update.

HD video quality are similar on all these platforms. For 4K, iTunes is definitely better than Prime and either similar or slightly better than D+ depending upon the content. I just did another compilation of bit rates across providers. Will be updating them in the Streaming Movies sub-forum by this weekend.
