German audio options:

German DTS-HD MA 2.0 (1991 dub)
German DTS-HD MA 5.1 (2005 dub)

The 1991 dub is in original stereo this time. Previous Universum/Leonine releases have 1991 dub in mono.

I don't think it has been confirmed yet which Japanese tracks are included.

I've seen how it looks and it ain't for me. PQ aside, they've made the release pretty dang premium.

Still amusing the UK gets it much earlier.

So does this one include the original soundtrack? Shows sound clip 1988 and a separate 5.1 mix, but I can't imagine it's just some bits of the original soundtrack over the entire thing. The listing isn't super clear.

The Italian Blu-ray is apparently the best release out there with grain intact.

I just don't get the hate that grain gets. Some go as far as to say "It looks like VHS. Ew!" what the heck.

I pre-ordered this from DeepDiscount months ago, but now that it's been announced in the UK....should I just get the UK version? Is there any compelling reason to keep the US order live?

If you're from the UK/Europe/Region B, the regular blu-ray will be compatible with your region. I know I deliberately waited for that since I don't have a multi region player. I'm just waiting for confirmation of the original 2.0 mix being included for the entire film.

Too rich for my blood, not for the usual Japanese DNR fest anyway. Happy to wait for a regular edition, whenever that may be.

Normally I'd be anti DNR(albeit not to the degree of some here when used in moderation) but honestly I'm not sure how I feel about it with animation.

Its not really something I associate with that medium and their doesn't seem to be a loss of detail involved given that there doesn't seem to be much extra detail beyond HD.

Really to me the main appeal seems like its whether then HDR/WCG adds anything, what opinion on that? there does obviously seem a lot of potential there.

Hate to break it to you Geoff, but there won't be, per Bandai's licensing agreements with foreign licensors. So LE or bust, sadly.

Manga UK had to offer something to mess it up even if just porting across a product and price gouging seems to be it, at £35 like elsewhere I probably would have picked this up.

Tweeted out to Manga UK if this will include the original audio, since their official website also lacks this information. Will email after the weekend if they don't respond that way. Might end up importing another version still. I'm not a purist, but I'm not in for dropped features.

It's a shame about the DNR, but it wasn't Manga who carried out the restoration and it does look like they've otherwise done a very nice job with the release. I'm tempted, but as others have said it does feel like a £35 release rather than a £50.

It is a £35 release in mainland Europe, Manga getting greedy I suspect.

Then I'm happy to go without. Not paying £50 for this.
