After Opera, The Church and The Sect, it seems that CR got ahold of another Italian cult classic. An underrated gem from Pupi Avati. Pretty awesome!

One of my most wanted. Hoping for a transfer on par with Messiah of Evil, definitely CR's best, most thorough restoration..

Unbelievable!!! One of my favorites! Excellent film. Just know going in that it is definitely NOT a zombie film. That 'Revenge of the Dead' nonsense was all just false marketing, but pretty hilarious in its unabashed deceit.

Nice. And is it confirmed CR will be doing blu-ray releases of The Church & The Sect? I will hold off buying the recently announced JP releases then.

The Sect, yes. I think the Church is just a guess so far (unless I missed a confirmation somewhere).

Indeed.

While I think the US title (RoTD) and poster are kinda corny and cheesy, it makes perfect sense to use them from a marketing perspective.

I loved Avati's House with The Laughing Windows, but found this one dull and fitful with a few good scenes scattered amidst a load of filler (felt the same about Fulci's The Beyond so take that with a sack of salt). It does have the lovely Anne Canovas and an intriguing if frequently at-odds-with-the-scene score by Riz Ortolani.

Don't know your preferences but be warned that this one has almost no gore elements, and a very low on-screen body count, so it's not your regular Italian zombie film. It's more of a mystery being investigated by the protagonist, while some other people are trying to keep him off the track for their own purpose.

What are you talking about? It may not be your traditional zombie film, but it most definitely is a film about the undead.

watched the Italian version tonight. 3/10 for me. I was expecting a zombie movie & got a detective story. While that's not bad, It's not worth 20-30 dollars to me. Oh well, I'm sure I love some movies that other people scratch their heads at too.

Your comment kind of echoes a review I read in my movie guide, Im going to watch it tonight or tomorrow and see if I want it.
