I saw this with my first roommate when it came out and I can't remember if we later bought the tape or if somebody recorded a cable broadcast for us but yeah, that tape got a *lot* of play.

This is fantastic news. It's far too good a film to call a guilty pleasure so maybe nostalgia pleasure?

It's not going to make it on to any Sight and Sound lists anytime soon but it's just chock full o' good old-fashioned 80s fun.

Oh, definitely. But it's funny though, in my head it's a lot like Above the Law or the original The Little Shop of Horrors. For some reason (and maybe it's because I can't shake the Michael McDonald music video they did

) whenever I talk about it I feel like I have to qualify it.

I love this flick. True story: I'm from the UK and when I went to Florida for the first time, I went waaaay out of my way to get down to Key West purely because of how amazing this film made it look to my adolescent mind all those years ago. In reality, it was raining more than I ever thought it was possible to rain and the roof nearly caved in on the visitor centre where I was hiding. But! Never mind, shine sweet freedom...

I was surprised the quality of the video. I can't really fault the picture. The Pro-logic mix was really good for the music and dialog, not so much for the sound effects!

Decided to compare my Kino bluray of this against a UK MGM Hd capture and as I thought when I first watched the bluray the picture looks quashed with everyone looking elongated. The MGM Hd did not exhibit this problem and the picture overall looked better for it along with better brightness / contrast levels.

Anyone else notice the anamoly with the bluray picture as its not mentioned in the site review.

I re-watched this last night. I think it might be the best buddy cop movie of all time. So many good lines. Great action. Great setting. Great music.
