Disney is upgrading the 1964 digital copy of Sword in the Stone to the NEW remastered version!
You are welcome. ;-) After receiving a rejected response saying they tried using the new version but were declined by Disney, I got this reply 2 hours later. Greetings Philip, Our content team contacted the studio and they changed their mind about this. They are sending us content for the re-mastered version. So that should be up on the service soon. There is no exact date since there are too many variables, but it will change for you automatically. Just wanted to give you a heads up since there were a few other cases pertaining to this movie after I took your case. James C[censored] VUDU Customer Care |

the new one is just a remastered version. Digital Copy Plus on vudu gave us an old washed out grainy, audio crackling one from the 1964 either vhs or film projector. The new one will be from the blu-ray remastered version.

Which is actually a bad thing given how badly Disney handled the Blu-ray.

The 4K has been available for a few years (as it's been on Disney+ since it launched in 2019). It looks much better than the blu-ray, it's no longer a DNR'd mess.

Correct. I just checked last night and my Vudu copy is the non-hot mess version but it did want me to buy a UHD copy for $18 so no idea if the UHD copy they are selling is the "good" Disney+ version or the "we don't acknowledge it's existence" Blu-Ray scan |

At a glance I did not think Sword and the Stone had an obvious improvement with UHD (toggling between UHD and HD on Vudu) because it didn't look especially '4K' but I suppose it's a scenario where even if UHD benefits are limited the initial HD edition was so botched my initial observations didn't account for that. It's also possible that the HD only edition is different on Vudu now and that it might be near the same (by my estimate).
