Legend has become so overused but it'd be inappropriate to not use that to describe Poitier. We'd be in a different world without his influence. It feels so weird to say he's gone. RIP

A titan with incomparable charm and screen presence, from The Defiant Ones to In the Heat of the Night to Sneakers and everything in between. Huge, huge loss. RIP.

I wish the studios would release some of his lesser-known movies in HD, such as the underrated 1988 thriller Shoot to Kill (aka Deadly Pursuit).

Legendary actor. Great in all the roles I've seen him in: To Sir With Love, A Raisin in the Sun, In the Heat of the Night, A Patch of Blue, all of which are worth seeing and owning. Really need to watch The Defiant Ones, Lilies of the Field, and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.

Last week we lost another legend, Betty White
And now Sidney Poitier, such a wonderful actor.
