Default Film franchises that you think should end.

I'm sure we all have our opinions about certain movie franchises that never seem to end. Whether its sequels, reboots, or retcons, what are any of your thoughts on a series that needs to hang it up? As a counter point, tell me a franchise you'd wish would come back.

Me? Friday the 13th. After recent reports of the lawsuit ending, but not in a positive light and even Hodder speculates we'll never see Jason again, I feel like maybe this is a sign that the IP is finished. As much as I'd love to see a 13th entry in the series made to really end the series properly, there isn't much else you can do with Jason. He's been to NYC, space, hell, Springwood, he's been "final" killed twice, and even remade as a greatest hits of the first four bests of F13th. Even though the reboot has its share of critics, it's not the worst film to close the book on.

An IP I'd like to see come back is TRON. There's more potential for sweet cyberpunk movies.

Bay Transformers.

But give me more of the Gen1 Transformers we saw in Bumblebee.

James Bond and Micheal Myers need to be put to rest. Instead they'll probably reboot them, kill them off, reboot them, kill them off again, and again, and again.

In fact can we just get Ridley Scott to stop? He has two classics and then a bunch of turds.

I seriously doubt anything great is on the horizon for these franchises…

Agreed. Halloween Ends should speak for itself and put the series to bed. Ups and downs, I love the series but enough is enough... it's a guy in a William Shatner mask holding a kitchen knife. It's not exactly an in depth story that needs 13 films.

007 has been kicking the can up and down the street for 60 years now, he evolved in 5 different iterations. He's been serious, campy, and somewhere in between. 25 is quite the number of movies. No Time To Die gave a pretty definitive end to Craig's tenure, but was cheapened by the "James Bond will return" at the end of the credits. Again, love the series... but we gotta let it go.

I feel like they think that if we don't keep making these icons a movie every few years, they'll fall into obscurity. Back to the Future hasn't had a sequel since 1990, but is still as popular as ever. Even Smokey and the Bandit still gets attention. Keep their memory alive by showing them, revisiting, make fan merchandise, etc etc. 007 and Michael Myers aren't going anywhere with or without the numerous sequels.

They end when I stop watching them. I still haven't seen Alien Covenant but I wouldn't take it away from someone who liked it.

I hate Alien Covenant. It was such a frustrating experience to watch because the characters are so stupid. One idiot "scientist" managed to escape the ship, runs back inside the ship, and gets her dumb ass killed. And there's other stupid decisions the characters make.

I know its supposed to be not that good but it has its fans. If someone likes it good for them.

This isn't an attempt for any average Joe's to end franchises, that's up to the studios and the creators. Nobody is taking anything away from anyone. It's just opinions and suggestions.

I finally just thought of one, Star Wars. Really don't like this Disney era of Star Wars. Making me feel like I outgrew the franchise. I don't want to feel that way about a franchise I love.

Hmmm... I do, But that the same time, I'm tired of Disney trying so hard to capture the feel of the original trilogy. Shit is getting stale. Also another thing about Rogue One, while I love the film, the characters felt like cardboard cutouts.

I agree, and it's not because I think there's nothing left in the gas tank creatively. It's that Disneyfilm LLC are filled with braindead hacktivists who only want to give nostalgia a cheap and lazy reach around. "Rebels without a clue". Star Wars needs George Lucas with the Favreau Filoni tagteam.
