This is the thread to discuss SNL

Has anyone besides me seen december 5th 's SNL ?

I tought it was really awesome plus you had guests Blake Lively and Rihanna which are very hot !

Andy Samberg, Seth Meyers,Bill Hader and Kenan Thompson always crack me up! lol

I also like when they have Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on!

This saturday, december 12th, guest star Taylor Lautner and musical guest Bon Jovi will be on the show!

I'll see your fanboy defense of the current "Yesterday, I was writing, and now I got a promotion!" series (guys, there was a REASON why Lorne got the first cast out of Chicago and Toronto... ), and raise you the Richard Pryor episode:
http://www.hulu.com/watch/1477/satur...rd-association
http://www.hulu.com/watch/1601/satur...he-exorcist-ii

And throw in some of the Phil Hartman/Dana Carvey era to boot:

(Yes, I remember twenty years ago, when our younger generation was still capable of a thing called Satire... )

I caught the Andy Samberg and Rhianna song at the school thing. That was quite amusing. But the opening and Tiger Woods bits were lame.

The only good part of SNL now are the Digital Shorts. They should just give Lonely Island their own show.

Those are usually the best, no doubt.

I've also found some of the musical acts pretty fun this year. Especially the Ting Tings and Black Eyed Peas. Thought I'd hate both of them, but the performances were great.

Anybody else still watch the old seasons? I tend to watch seasons 30-37. The newer seasons seem to be a bit cheesy to me. I really enjoy the writing in these seasons.

I've watched Jim Carrey do Biden for the last two weeks, and I have to say I prefer Woody Harrelson's Biden. I'm sorry he wasn't available to do Biden.

Jason Sudeikis for me. His Biden’s iconic.

Imo, when SNL started in 1975, their humor's target audience was young college students. Then that bar was gradually lowered to High School students.

And now, I feel they have been writing to Jr. High School students or the equivalent for quite awhile.

Weird how Bowen Yang, Melissa V., and Cecily Strong have barely been on the show this season.

Cecily has a new show happening soon. She could be working on that.

The humor hasn't changed; you've gotten older.

Older thread, but this makes sense. SNL can kind of go in waves for me of how much I pay attention. I've actually thought the last few years have had some really funny skits and there's a lot of millennial humor which still resonates. I've heard it mentioned before that an episode pretty much peaks the week it airs and that's probably spot on given how timely many of the sketches air following stuff in the news at that particular time. Some of them might already be a lot more dated and perceivably less funny over time. But I still love going back and both revisiting older sketches and seeing ones new to me.

It's pretty much always had quotable lines and I'm finding some obscure ones that make me laugh when probably no one else would. For example, there's a sketch where Kenan is playing Cosby and says 'oh, hello, my beloved' to a submarine sandwich and it's something I've quoted just to humor myself.

I was just thinking about the SNL 50 episode that aired last night. Wouldn't it have been swell if Andy Kaufman showed up to finally end his prank?

Eddie's impression of Tracy is great. He's done it a bit sharper before, but right next to the actor is always tougher. It looked like there were some improv lines as well to break character from Leslie, Tracy as Kenan. People forget just how funny people like Murphy and Hanks were at their comedic peaks.
