Fingers crossed they can find the longer pre-Cannon cut with the extra footage currently only available dubbed in French.

It's a bizarre movie in some moments, but that is a big time announcement from Kino!

Never saw this one happening, but glad I'm wrong. They used an actual orangutan for this film (despite supposed to be a chimp in the film) and pained it black I believe. Haven't seen this in a dogs age, but will love to revisit it.

The reason for that is orangutans are still quite amenable when they're the size of the one seen "acting" in this movie.

A mature chimpanzee of similar size is an absolute nightmare. Good luck getting a movie in the can and escaping with your face and balls if you have a mature chimp on the set. Any time you see a chimp being compliant in a movie or on TV, it's because it's still a baby.

Just noticed that credited as exec producer on this film is Verity Lambert. The producer who brought Dr Who to the small screen.

That guy's reviews are so superficial and dumb. I appreciate his intent, but you might as well read the IMDB plot summary.

This has some of the creepiest art of all time!

I find his reviews pretty entertaining, but that's just me.

Speaking of the film, I do have a question if anyone remembers...

[Show spoiler]At the end of the film when they are driving off, are those dead sheep in the field or pieces of hay? If sheep, is that to indicate that the ape survived the fire or not? I really couldn't tell what it was at the end in the field. Also, if it is sheep, was that to indicate that the orangutan survived the fall or was to indicate the chimp they picked up also had killer tendencies and had killed them?

Same here. His reviews have exposed me to a ton of great old films and I always look forward to Monster Madness. His enthusiasm is infectious without seeming fake or forced.

The latter, I think.

This is an awesome 80s comedy horror. Hopefully this will get it some more well deserved appreciation.

Awesome.

I was also thinking that
[Show spoiler]the "friendly" chimp they picked up also had had killer tendencies and that they were now in trouble for picking it up.

Nice to see, but IMO not worth a purchase unless they get Franklin's original cut before Cannon wrecked it.

Mmmmm, 80's Elisabeth Shue in HD...

Also perhaps THE most annoying (but catchy!) Jerry Goldsmith score ever.

Never seen this, but it's more Richard Franklin so i'm game. Hopefully, we'll see a release of ROAD GAMES soon either from Kino or Scream Factory.

Ramboraph4life also did a positive review on Link and he finds it underrated.

I always enjoyed this movie since i was 5 when i saw it on video with my parents and big brother! Shue was hot in this movie and this movie is Black Christmas meets Monkey Shines.

No need to wait for Road Games as there is a region free version available:

An Experiment in Terror! Elisabeth Shue (The Saint, Leaving Las Vegas) and Terence Stamp (The Limey, The Real McCoy) co-star in this suspenseful horror film directed by Richard Franklin (Road Games, F/X2) and featuring a chilling score by legendary composer Jerry Goldsmith (The Omen, The Satan Bug, 100 Rifles). Young graduate student Jane Chase (Shue) becomes the new assistant to an eccentric zoology professor (Stamp) at the remote home he shares with two brilliant chimpanzees and an elderly orangutan butler named Link. But when one of the chimps is found dead and the professor mysteriously disappears, Link becomes dangerously aggressive towards Jane. Now, the time for “monkey business” is over and the true terror is about to begin.
