I had a bunch of 4-movie sets of public domain stuff, and one inexplicably had a decent-looking (if non-anamorphic) version of this movie on it, I was pretty shocked by how much better it was than the other crap on those discs (mostly stuff like Werewolf in a Girl's Dormitory and Night Train to Terror). I will have to get this!

Let's wait and see. The only HD relesae of the movie out there is a bad Italien LVR scan riddled with scanner noise. If Code Red uses the same scan you won't be happy (those who will be able to get a copy....

Let us hope this scan won't be used. It very easily could be though, Code Red have less money to spend on productions than most other small niche distributors.

LVR still uses outdated scanning technology, hence seriously flawed transfers. It's mind boggling. You would think they would have gotten their act together by now.

Why should they care? They've been used time and time again by tons of different distributors and licensors to handle the transfers of tons of great movies. Clearly they have no reason to care until the people paying them actually do. Seemingly that won't be any time soon for God knows what reason. Are LVR really that much cheaper than using a proper facility?

LVR telecines are pretty bad, but usually the DVDs of these films are much worse. I'll take a bad HD transfer over a horrible SD one.

Pretty sure they are only responsible for the poor transfers. They don't author the discs I don't think. Further than that I believe the extensive DNR is decided on by the distributor and not LVR themselves.

And there must be reason why other companies turned it down. Code Red definitely wasn't the only company that had a chance to make a deal. Synapse said that it was offered to them, too.
The reason could be the quality of the scan, so prepare yourself for statements from Bill like 'a restoration would have been too expensive', 'I am only a one man business', 'don't buy it if you don't want to' and last but not least 'I did not make any money with this title'... ![]() |
