United Kingdom Phantasm Collection coming from Arrow

http://www.arrowfilms.co.uk/shop/ind...product_id=930

Quote:
Format: Blu-Ray + DVD

Starring: A. Michael Baldwin, Angus Scrimm, Reggie Bannister

Directed by: Don Coscarelli, David Hartman

Synopsis:

Few horror movie franchises are as iconic as Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm series. From its deadly flying silver spheres through to its hooded dwarf minions, and of course, the towering figure of arch villain The Tall Man himself, the imagery conjured up by the Phantasm films remains etched in the psyche of genre fans everywhere.

Beginning with the 1979 original through to 2016’s Phantasm: Ravager, the five films which make up the Phantasm series follow the young Mike Baldwin as he battles against the enigmatic “Tall Man” - an extraterrestrial being intent on harvesting the human race as slaves for his home planet. Aided by friend Reggie and his trusty four-barrelled shotgun, Mike resolves to vanquish the Tall Man before he wipes out humanity altogether.

Brought together for the first time on Blu-ray - including a stunning new 4K restoration of the original Phantasm overseen by J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Trek Into Darkness) - the Phantasm series is back with added balls!

Wow! Looks excellent. However, I'll just be fine with the first film myself.

Dammit! I bought the region friendly US blu-rays of Phantasm Remastered and Phantasm Ravager with my xmas money. Knew I should have waited.

75 pounds is pretty damn expensive though, that's 15 pounds per film! I wonder if there will be a later, cheaper option without the sphere packaging.

I bought the 1-4 dvd Anchor Bay sphere set back when it was released and to be honest, I could happily live without the novelty packaging.

Anyone wanna buy my copies of Phantasm Remastered and Phantasm Ravager?

Edit: Phantasm Remastered no longer available.

Will wait for the amaray boxset at about £40.

That packaging ruins it for me, digipacks? Cardboard, giant sphere lol, proper shelf buster!!

A nice set for folks who collect this sort of thing though.

Can we expect a Supermarket exclusive of Phantasm?

I'm actually more bothered by the lack of technical informations about the sequels.

Dang, I just started collecting the USA copies. Looks like I'll grab this set to get the ones I don't have in one swoop, especially if a US box set never happens.

They'll need to press at least 10,000 copies of this set minimum to cover a good portion of the fanbase because there's no way in hell anybody's going to buy the US versions (if it actually happens). No way to top this. Where do I preorder?

I would have thought so, it'll probably end up a lot cheaper than 75 pounds as well.

10,000 is a lot so maybe this will take a while to sell out
and be reduced in price a bit

I'm only interested in the first 2 movies...I thought 3 & 4 were terrible. Hopefully there will be individual releases eventually.

It shouldn't.
Arrow chose 10 000 copies because they expect 10 000 copies of the LE Phantasm set to take as long to sell out as 5 000 copies of Donnie Darko and 3 000 copies of their Gialli set.

The whole point of doing LE sets is that the limitation pushes people not to wait a price drop to get one. If it lasts long enough for price to drop, it means the label vastly over-estimated the sales potential of the release.

It can happen (see the LGF / Mona Lisa set, or the obvious Battle Royale or TCM 2 ones), but these are exceptions rather than the rule.

10,000 but it won't take long to sell out. US customers will bypass the eventual WellGo release for this.

I hope the "PLUS MORE TO BE ANNOUNCED!" includes previously released stuff, like deleted scenes and workprint scenes from part 2.

The package looks beautiful though. Exactly what I would've hoped for!

SIDE NOTE: I wonder why Don didn't do commentary for part 3?

I know that is what I'll be doing. Although I haven't decided if I'm going to spend my points on this or wait for the eventual non-limited version. I don't feel the need to have the ball, but I do like getting the books that come with the limited editions.

I think 4 is great. Especially with the all unused flashback footage from the original.

I just want the first one really (and maybe the others eventually). I guess they don't want to release them separately just yet because they'll want people to get this box set, but I imagine if they do the first one it will be booklet-less. Don't mind though, just means I'm likely to pay less and have to wait longer too.
