Default Onkyo HT-SP908 (605) Help

so i just got my onkyo HT-SP908 (605 receiver) and i have a few questions about it.

first for some reason when i watch a 5.1 blu-ray it seems like the incorrect speakers are working. the center, the 2 front and then the 2 side surrounds. shouldnt it be the 2 back surrounds and not the 2 side surrounds?? i threw in 3:10 to yuma to check and make sure all the speakers were working and they were. i checked to make sure i didnt switch the cables around and it looked fine.

ive got another question about how to setup a few different inputs. pm if you are interested in helping

thanks

I don't have the 605, I have the 805, but I get what you are saying. It should be the two surround speakers not the back surround speakers. Is it displayed on the receiver as being the back speakers and not the side? Feel free to PM me or post here and others with the 605 can probably help. Also try including the 605 in your thread title by clicking to edit your post and then click on the "Go Advanced" button to modify the title.

EDIT: Check out your manual on page 19 or click here to download it as a PDF. This page explains the speaker configuration for speaker setups using between 2 and 7 speakers.

Once you've got everything working, I'm very curious to hear how the sound quality is. I've been looking at ordering the Onkyo HT-SP908 myself.

I'm pleased with mine, great starter system with great upgrading potential.

If I recall correctly the PS3 does not properly handle dts hd in bitstream. It is rumored to be fixed in a future firmware update. Try using PCM.

EDIT: It is talked about elsewhere on the forums one example is here.
