I’ve noticed something very recently when I’m watching 3D movies with the subtitles on that occasionally, some subtitles display almost incorrectly, causing what I can only describe as a “cross eyed” effect, where they are hard to read and only look correct when I close one eye. It seems completely random though, where a scene with subtitles will have most subtitles displaying correctly but every now and then one looks how I describe above. I have also noticed that in some instances, when the same subtitle is on screen but the shot itself changes, the subtitle suddenly “corrects itself” so to speak. It’s really weird. I’ve also noticed that player generated subtitles don’t really seem to displaying in the correct depth plane and rather than sitting in front of everything on screen, they are kind of pushed back into the image, making the 3D look a bit incorrect.
I swear my TV didn’t use to have this issue but I’ve recently moved the TV to a different place and am paranoid that something has happened to mess the subtitle setting up. I really hope that is not the case. Does anybody have any advice or have encountered anything similar to how I’m describing? For the record this has happened with both burnt in subtitles (The Hobbit movies) and player generated subtitles (for Japanese Movienex MCU movies). |

Thanks for the advice, I will try this. The thing is, I haven't adjusted this at all, like ever so I'm not sure why this issue has just kicked in! I will report back. It does seem odd that it is not affecting all subtitles though, just every now and then.

Some movies produce it more than others.

One other situation is that the tv is getting issues(which i doubt) and producing an undesired effect. |

Yeah I thought it might be the seating position which I have changed with little success. Like I said though, the issue is only affecting certain subtitles not all so you'd think the seating position would either effect all or none at all. I'll check the viewpoint thing later and see but I have a nasty feeling this could be tv related.

Might be in the move you set the angle of the TV different (for passive 3D tv's). Tilted back or down differently then you had it before. You might try raising yourself/body...eyes...up and down while looking at the subtitles. If it clears up, without causing issues in other regards...tilt the screen up/downwards as needed to work in you seating position/eye height for a permanent fix.

Sadly after tinkering with the 3D viewpoint the issue remains. |

I don't watch too many subtitled 3D films so experience is limited, but yes, I've noticed my 2016 LG 3D LCD set also does the same thing randomly with 3D subtitles - it's almost like they move and adjust to correct itself sometimes. I watched one subtitled 3D film a few months back and it did that throughout the film. One minute it's fine and next a random subtitle would be on the wrong plane or just appear wonky. I was using a media player at the time, and I don't think my media player handles 3D subtitle planes correctly, unlike a blu-ray player, so I just blamed it on the media player since it has lots of quirks, but what you described is what I saw, so maybe it's the TV after all.
